Good day sundry. Itâs a brand new day to be hopeful about. A day to keep our hopes and dreams alive. Itâs a great blessing to have lived this morning. Letâs be motivated to keep being who we wish to be in the future.
Today I come to share with you a day I canât forget in University. Well, I attended the premier university in Ghana. Not to talk much about it but Iâm glad I went there. Many experiences came as I journeyed through. I wish to share one of them with the family here. School is full of learning processes. Not only in the classroom but from peers, programs, and other cases we never thought we could learn from them. My story goes this.
From home, I donât cook. I know nothing about cooking. So I went to the university and I got to know itâs just like a mini home to everyone. You have to feed yourself. Prepare the food yourself and eat or go get it from a vendor. For a few days that was what I was doing. But the cost wasnât easy and I had to find my way around it. They gave me foodstuff when I was coming too so I had to cook too. Thatâs when the wahala (trouble) started. I canât cook. A man who canât cook but will have to survive. Come and see trouble. Or maybe I will have to it someone to be cooking for me or for that works to teach me how the cooking thing is done. Because at that point, I couldnât think far.
I had a rice cooker, rice, and other things that could cook me plain rice. So I bought stew. From the vendors who sold rice, I went and bought some amount of stew because I couldnât prepare that one. I came to the room to cook the rice. Fire on the mountain. This wasnât easy. So I have heard we use a rice cooker to cook rice but I have never tried it myself. I thought you just add the rice and water and everything will be set. Until this day that I realized.
I plugged the rice cooker into the water. I added rice and salt. I thought no matter the quantity of water in it, the rice cooker will find its way to cook the rice. Not knowing the rice cooker isnât a robot. I added water and the water was more than the rice which I didnât realize because I didnât even know. So I closed my cooker and started my wait. A wait to infinity and back I will tell you. I waits and witted but I wasnât seeing the rice cooker moving from warm to cook. I was wondering how long it will take to cook my rice. For about an hour it wants still ready. The rice wasnât that much for it to take that time. I decided to check it out myself. Rice water folks. Heer. That wasnât easy. My rice and stew turn rice water. At this point, I didnât know what to do.
I was with some friends. They laughed. Crazily at me. I couldnât say anything. I was like a frozen statue. Which kind of rice bi this? Common rice and stew you canât cook. And all other words were what they were saying. It was funny and a disgrace. I just had to take it and grow from it. A first-time disaster that I canât even forget.
