For this week, we are to talk about and answer a few questions also;
what motivated you to go there?
What is the one thing you will commend about the school?
Will you choose to attend that university when you get a second chance?
If someone had asked me about my school a while back I bet I wouldn’t have much to say but being here for sometime has been an eye opener and taught me a lot.
If you didn’t know, I’m a final year student at the University For Development Studies located in the northern part of Ghana. The University has four campuses situated in different parts of the northern regions. Weird right?
So , the course you decide to pursue shows the campus you would be studying at. I didn’t know about this until I got here in my first year. I didn’t plan on attending this university but I ended up here so I guess it was for a reason.
I expected to see a much better school when I first arrived here but to my surprise, it wasn’t what I was expecting. That was my first time traveling to the Northern part of the country so I was sort of frustrated that the place didn’t meet my standards.lol.
what motivated you to go there?
What motivates me to attend this university is the fact that I didn’t want to limit myself. My parents made sure we were very comfortable and all. I needed to move out of my comfort zone to be able to discover my true self and that required me leaving my region to the different part of the country.
I must say, it hasn’t been a bad experience as I’ve been able to build myself and I have become more independent.
What is the one thing you will commend about the school?
There’s not much good stuff to say about my school but what I commend about my school is that, they actually do well in teaching us. Among all the school in the country, this school will probably wear the crown for their seriousness.
The lecturers make time for the students and they teach us very well ,the only thing that restricts us sometimes is inadequate infrastructure. Missing lectures in not an option for we the students and our lecturers. We students are always challenged by our lecturers to do better.
Another thing I commend about the school is how the student body is united. Even though we are in the university and everyone is busy doing their own stuff, the students here actually interact with one another a lot.
We are like one big family and are always there for each other. Are you struggling with studies? Your friends will help you out. Are you have financial issues? Your friends are there for you. Are you depressed? You have a family to help you.
All you need to do is to speak up.
I have met people who have become more than friends to me in this institution. Someone might thing we are all sibling because of how we are all there for each other. I don’t think this often happens a lot in some school.
Will you choose to attend that university when you get a second chance?
This is a tough question to answer because I would have the take some time to think it through. A second chance to attend this university is a tempting offer but it depends on what it entails.
Even though I like this school very much, the school lacks adequate infrastructure to aid we students on our studies. And looking at myself, practical learning is more of my thing than theoretical learning.
I wouldn’t reject a second chance to attend this school only if the school is developed and provided with adequate infrastructure to meet the standards of a university.
This is my entry to the contest organized by the hive students hub. I hope you enjoyed reading it. Thank you.
