[En-Es] Kalanchoe

At home we have a beautiful plant, easy to grow and which is said to have medicinal properties.

En casa tenemos una planta bonita, fácil de cultivar y de la que se dice, tiene propiedades medicinales.

It belongs to the genus Kalanchoe, and to the family Crassulaceae.
It is also in the group called "succulents" and is, partly terrestrial and partly aerial, because it can survive on little or almost no substrate.

Pertenece al género Kalanchoe, y a la familia de las Crassulaceae.
También está en el grupo de las llamadas "suculentas" y es, en parte terrestre y en parte aérea, porque puede sobrevivir con poco o casi ningún sustrato.

It also receives the popular names of "donkey ears", due to the shape of its leaves, and "beach palm bells" due to the shape of its inflorescences. These inflorescences are of the Corimbo type and resemble groups of balloons that open up when they mature and turn from light green to reddish green and pink.

También recibe los nombres populares de "orejas de burro", por la forma de sus hojas, y "campanillas de palma de playa" por la forma de sus inflorescencias. Estas inflorescencias son del tipo Corimbo y se asemejan a grupos de globos que cuando van madurando se abren y tornan de verde claro a verde rojizo y rosado.

The kalanchoe genus contains about 150 species and they are native to Madagascar and tropical Africa.

El género kalanchoe contiene cerca de 150 especies y son oriundas de Madagascar y África tropical.

They reproduce by means of seedlings that are born near the tip of their leaves. These can grow up to 30 centimeters long by 6 centimeters wide.

Se reproducen por medio de plántulas que nacen cerca de la punta de sus hojas. Estas pueden crecer hasta los 30 centímetros de largo por 6 centímetros de ancho.

It can reach a meter in height.
Anticancer and anti-inflammatory properties are attributed to it and are used both ingested and topically.

Puede alcanzar un metro de altura.
Se le atribuyen propiedades anticancerígenas, antiinflamatorias y se emplean tanto ingeridas cómo de manera tópica.

The kalanchoe suarezenzis and the kalanchoe gastonis-bonnieri are almost the same, with some differences between them, such as a series of dark spots on the leaves, present on the second and absent on the first.

La kalanchoe suarezenzis y la kalanchoe gastonis-bonnieri son casi iguales, con algunas diferencias entre ellas como son una serie de manchas oscuras en las hojas, presentes en la segunda y ausentes en la primera.

One of the first plants sent into space in 1979, to resupply the Russian space station Salyut 1, was of the genus kalanchoe.

Una de las primeras plantas enviadas al espacio en 1979, para reabastecer la estación espacial rusa Salyut 1, fue del género kalanchoe.
