Summertime Petals

I recently joined the Petals Community and this is my first post. I will enjoy sharing my flower photos in a group run by my friends Hive account@lourdeshd6 Hive account@nicanor-mosquera and Hive account@eliezerfloyd. If you have flowers to share, or if you simply want some bright and colorful beauty to brighten up your day, this is the place to be! They do require 300 word posts with several photos so expect to see some quality posts there.

This brilliant orange Bougainvillea Hybrid 'Fire Cracker Opal' was a gift from my Chicago kids last June. And it continues to show-off its beauty in a hanging basket. It needs a lot of sunlight and being able to have sun loving plants on my deck is my one consolation for the loss of a huge old oak tree that fell last fall.

We have had such a ridicously hot and dry summer, that the only time that it has been enjoyable to be outdoors is very early in the morning, as the sun is coming up. The early morning light is a great time to take a few photographs though.

These common daisies (Bellis perennis) are easy to grow and are blooming happily in a pot at the top of my steps out on the deck.

I've been going out to water everything with the hose every morning, and so far all of my flowers are blooming beautifully. This Wishbone Flower
(Torenia Fournier) is enjoying the heat and seems happy in the pot that I planted it in.

I am not physically able to grow a vegetable garden anymore, but I did buy lettuce seeds, broccolini, and a few herbs like cilantro, parsley, tarragon and basil, just to satisfy my deep rooted farming needs. I planted late, and my lettuce will be ready to harvest this week.
But this community is all about flowers, So I'll end with Petunias and a yellow begonia.
