Unfortunately, due to the bad weather we had to call off the walk we had planned. It was far too windy over the tops, so second option was to walk in a nearby wood where it was a lot calmer. I liked the 'be nice, say hello' sign. It's surprising how many people don't bother saying hello.
We followed the footpath trying not to trip up over the tree roots. They can be quite lethal. They're very slippy when it's wet.
At times, it felt as though we'd just stepped onto the film set of Lord of the Rings with the moss and lichin and creepy trees, but sadly, no hobbits were seen.
We carried on following the footpath until we came to the road. The National Trust, have said the autumn colours this year will be different because of the heatwave in the summer. Golden browns and yellows will be the dominant colours. It will be interesting to see if they are right in the forthcoming weeks.
What you looking at? The sheep kindly let me have a photoshoot with them. The sheep have lots of moorland to roam on, but they choose to lay on the side of the road!
We ended the walk with pie, peas and mash at a local cafe.
