So che lo hanno fatto anche film, ma non l'ho visto ancora. Preferisco avere in mente l'idea di une libro fantastico, con tutti i dettagli di un epoca (1135-1174) affascinante, pericolosa, e buia. Per quanto affascinante vivere però non dovrebbe esser stato molto facile, certo che altri opzioni non cerano sicuramente. lol
"I pilastri della terra" è un libro di Ken Follett un scrittore britannico brillante. Dicono i suoi libri gli scriveva sempre quando era sotto l'effetto dell'alcool, e questa cosa non mi sorprende affatto, come tutti i grandi scrittori del resto. Ken Follett mi piace poiché scrive conoscendo tante particolarità dell'epoca e questa cosa mi sembra molto importante. Se leggi alcune pagine dove si descrive l'architettura, lo stile degli abiti, le tradizioni, anche i tessuti che si usavano, o la cucina per esempio, ti sembra che lo stai vivendo là quella splendida storia scelta per essere raccontata. Meravigliosa. Poi ovviamente c'è una storia d'amore in mezzo è una lotta tra poteri. Mi sono fermata qui perché Ken Follett è un grande maestro del racconto e delle descrizioni. Conosce molto bene la psicologia umana, e ha fato degli suoi personaggio grandi eroi che anche se hanno vissuto a quell'epoca li possiamo incontrare anche oggi. Sono in un certo senso gli eroi di tutti i tempi e di tutte le epoche.
Ken Follett è un scrittore di romanzi non leggeri. Non storie d'amore leggeri, ma grandi storie d'amore con i suoi personaggi che lottano fino all'estremità per quello che vogliono. Passionali, capaci di elaborare grandi sofferenze, e momenti di conflitti interiori. I sui eroi sono quelli che cadono e si rialzano. Sono quelli che alla fine c'è la fanno perché come si dice mantengono sempre il fuoco della vita acceso. Eroi che sanno combattere, e che non si trasformano in quello che hanno combattuto. Rimangono se stessi e c'è la fanno alla fine. Questo è anche quello che mi piace a oggi giorno, in questa categoria di persone. Perciò dico eroi di tutti i tempi.
Poi sa descrivere la bellezza delle donne quando lo vede, la bellezza la forza interiore, la capacità di combattere. E' veramente bravo. Punto.

Sinceramente all'inizio mi ha un po', annoiato, diciamo le prime 50-100 pagine di questo racconto. Un po' lento mi è sembrato, e poi la storia sembrava ferma, non stava succedendo nulla, e io aspettavo qualcosa di più coinvolgente. Il libro non è leggero come ho detto, e Ken Follett sicuramente voleva che noi ci ambientassimo un po' con l'ambiente, poiché cerano troppo pochi dialoghi. Più che altro descrizione dell'ambiente, della natura, e qualche piccolo episodio qua e la. Poi comincia il bello, e la vera storia. Mi ha fatto impressione una cosa, o meglio un personaggio, ovviamente quelli principali, buoni e cattivi, ma anche il mondo della chiesa, il palazzo reale etc etc.
Quella era un epoca buoi e lui lo ha catturato molto bene, ma per il modo in qui si racconta questa storia, o più o meno tutte le storie, rimane veramente una verità molto emozionante.
Ken Follet è come se avesse vissuto in un epoca buia e vedendo la vita di tutti i suoi personaggi trasformandosi in una migliore.

They are the ones who eventually do it because, as they say, they always keep the fire of life alight. Heroes who know how to fight, and who don't turn into what they fought. They remain themselves and there they make it in the end. This is also what I like today, in this category of people. So I say heroes of all time.

Honestly at the beginning it bored me a bit, let's say the first 50-100 pages of this story. It seemed a bit slow to me, and then the story seemed to stop, nothing was happening, and I was expecting something more engaging. The book is not as light as I said, and Ken Follett certainly wanted us to settle in a little bit with the environment, as there was too little dialogue.
