Un saluto a tutti,
oggi vorrei rispondere a qualche utente che tramite messaggio privato in discord mi chiedeva perchè non fossi presente in qualcuno dei tanti gruppi che ci sono in quell'applicazione.
Per farlo bisogna fare un passo indietro e raccontare qualche aneddoto..
Mi sono iscritto su Steem a settembre 2017 e da allora ho fatto un percorso lunghissimo di cui vado particolarmente fiero.
Gli inizi, come ho raccontato in altri post, sono stati molti difficili perchè non riuscivo proprio a farmi notare. In italiano era praticamente impossibile, ma con la mia conoscenza dell'inglese scritto, abbastanza scolastico, sono comunque riuscito a entrare in contatto con altri utenti e creare interazioni che mi hanno permesso di crescere lentamente ma costantemente.
In tutti i primi mesi (tre o quattro, non ricordo) in Steem non ho mai utilizzato Discord perchè non sapevo neanche cosa fosse; spesso leggevo nei post il link ai canali ufficiali Discord di questo e quel gruppo ma non mi sono mai interessato più di tanto.
Poi fui contattato da 
Da quel momento ho imparato a usare discord e ne ho apprezzato alcune peculiarità, ma con il tempo mi sono reso conto di quanto possa essere dannoso se utilizzato in maniera errata.
Infatti il periodo di cui vi sto parlando coincideva con quello di maggior successo della blockchain Steem e il gruppo italiano era davvero molto numeroso.. al punto che il tag #ita era tra i più utilizzati e tra quelli che realizzavano le maggiori rewards.
Nel gruppo discord di questo gruppo italiano si contavano svariate centinaia di utenti e coloro che si iscrivevano a Steem venivano invitati a farne parte; ammetto che c'era una buona organizzazione però.....
...si, c'è un però.
Discord ha delle caratteristiche molto diverse da qualsiasi blog in quanto si avvicina più a una chat, quindi con la caratteristica dell'immediatezza del confronto che praticamente diventava diretto e in tempo reale.
Sebbene l'organizzarsi in discord presentava degli indubbi vantaggi a livello organizzativo, aveva svantaggi di non poco conto.
Il primo fra tutti era quello di spostare l'interazione tra gli utenti da Steem a Discord; infatti i post degli italiani sulla blockchain ricevevano pochissimi commenti mentre su Discord c'era chi scriveva praticamente a tutte le ore.. al punto da rendere necessario nominare tanti moderatori nel canale dell'applicazione per gestire l'enorme flusso di utenti.
Questo non è stato positivo per la blockchain perchè quello che le è sempre mancato sono stati i consumatori di contenuti.
Immaginate un investitore o un nuovo utente che vede centinaia di post senza alcun commento agli stessi: praticamente un deterrente alla registrazione o all'investimento!
Il secondo aspetto negativo era quello di incentivare il voto automatico tra i componenti del gruppo. Sebbene non fosse obbligatorio, veniva presentato come un grande vantaggio e quindi alla fine vi aderivano tutti.
Creando due grosse problematiche: la prima era la chiusura del gruppo in se stesso perchè utilizzando il voto automatico si esauriva la voting power giornaliera votandosi all'interno del gruppo e finendo per non interagire con gli autori stranieri, la seconda era un ulteriore incentivo a non leggere e commentare i post degli altri autori italiani in quanto, in un'ottica di puro guadagno, bastava il voto automatico a raggiungere l'obiettivo.
Terzo aspetto negativo è stato quello di creare dissapori e dissidi all'interno del gruppo italiano di fatto, distruggendolo.
Il troppo tempo passato a chiacchierare su Discord aveva distolto l'attenzione dal vero scopo per cui quel canale all'interno dell'applicazione era stato creato.
Gelosie, invidia, sospetti e competizione unite al calo delle quotazioni di steem e alle politiche poco "trasparenti" dei vertici del gruppo (sospettati di approfittarsi della situazione per favorire i guadagni personali a discapito del gruppo) finirono per disgregare quella community e allontanare molti utenti dall'intera blockchain.
Cosa mi ha insegnato quella esperienza di soli 4 mesi?
Che la vera interazione deve essere sulla blockchain e non su Discord. Che le chat finiscono sempre male perchè s'instaurano rapporti che non hanno nulla a che fare con l'essere autore e consumatore/curatore di contenuti.
Che un gruppo non deve essere pensato come un'azienda ma come un mezzo per supportarsi vicendevolmente e soprattutto volontariamente.
Per questo, alla luce della mia esperienza passata, cerco di passare meno tempo possibile su discord in quanto lo ritengo tempo sottratto alla lettura dei post e più in generale alla blockchain.
Non sto dicendo che Discord sia un'applicazione senza utilità perchè può sicuramente essere di supporto alla Blockchain; spesso quando ci sono malfunzionamenti di Hive o di alcune Dapps la prima cosa che faccio e contattare chi di dovere su Discord.
Ecco, questo mi sembra un ottimo utilizzo dell'applicazione.
Così come lo sarebbe quello di utilizzarla solo a livello organizzativo: immaginiamo gli amministratori di un gruppo che hanno necessità di confrontarsi in tempo reale o gli sviluppatori di Dapps che devono coordinare il lavoro.
Ma continuo a pensare che sarebbe meglio che gli utenti lo utilizzassero solo per ricevere informazioni o per fare segnalazioni.
Di sicuro io lo utilizzo in questo modo e questa è la spiegazione del perchè non partecipo attivamente ad alcun gruppo su Discord.

Today I would like to respond to some users who by private message in discord asked me why I was not present in some of the many groups that are in that application.
To do that you have to take a step back and tell some anecdotes...
I signed up on Steem in September 2017 and since then I have done a very long journey of which I am particularly proud.
The beginnings, as I have said in other posts, were very difficult because I just couldn't get noticed. In Italian it was practically impossible, but with my knowledge of written English, quite scholastic, I was able to get in touch with other users and create interactions that allowed me to grow slowly but steadily.
In all the first months (three or four, I don't remember) in Steem I never used Discord because I didn't even know what it was; I often read in the posts the link to the official Discord channels of this and that group but I never cared much.

From that moment on I learned to use discord and I appreciated some of its peculiarities, but with time I realized how harmful it can be if used incorrectly.
In fact, the period I'm talking about coincided with the most successful one of the blockchain Steem and the Italian band was really very numerous... to the point that the tag #ita was among the most used and among those who made the biggest rewards.
In the discord group of this Italian group there were several hundred users and those who joined Steem were invited to join; I admit there was a good organization though...

Discord has characteristics very different from any blog because it is closer to a chat, so with the characteristic of the immediacy of the comparison that practically became direct and in real time.
Although organizing in discord had undoubted advantages at an organizational level, it had significant disadvantages.
The first of all was to move the interaction between users from Steem to Discord; in fact the posts of Italians on the blockchain received very few comments while on Discord there were those who wrote at all hours... to the point that it was necessary to appoint many moderators in the application channel to manage the huge flow of users.
This was not good for the blockchain because what it always lacked were content consumers.
Imagine an investor or a new user who sees hundreds of posts without any comment on them: practically a deterrent to registration or investment!
The second downside was to encourage automatic voting among group members. Although it was not obligatory, it was presented as a great advantage and so in the end everyone joined in.
Creating two big problems: the first was the closure of the group itself because by using automatic voting the daily voting power was exhausted by voting within the group and ending up not interacting with foreign authors, the second was a further incentive not to read and comment on the posts of other Italian authors because, in a perspective of pure profit, automatic voting was enough to achieve the goal.
The third negative aspect was to create disagreements and disagreements within the Italian group, destroying it.
Too much time spent chatting about Discord had diverted attention away from the real purpose for which that channel within the application had been created.
Jealousy, envy, suspicion and competition combined with the drop in steem's prices and the "opaque" policies of the group's top management (suspected of taking advantage of the situation to favour personal gain at the group's expense) ended up disrupting that community and alienating many users from the entire blockchain.
What did that four-month experience teach me?
That the real interaction must be on the blockchain and not on Discord. That chats always end badly because relationships are established that have nothing to do with being an author and consumer/consumer of content.
That a group should not be thought of as a company but as a means to support each other and above all voluntarily.
For this reason, in the light of my past experience, I try to spend as little time as possible on discord as I consider it time taken away from reading posts and more generally from the blockchain.
I'm not saying that Discord is an application without any usefulness because it can certainly support Blockchain; often when there are malfunctions of Hive or some Dapps the first thing I do is to contact whoever is in charge on Discord.
Now, this seems to me a very good use of the application.
Just as it would be to use it only at an organizational level: let's imagine the administrators of a group who need to confront each other in real time or the Dapps developers who have to coordinate the work.
But I still think it would be better for users to use it only to receive information or to make reports.
I certainly use it that way and that's the explanation why I don't actively participate in any group on Discord.
