Today, like every year is special, it's Epiphany day and above all it's the Epiphany of Avis!
Let's start from the beginning; Avis, for the uninitiated, stands for: Association of Italian Blood Volunteers; I have been Avisino for about 22 years, I made my first donation on my eighteenth birthday and I reached 100 a month ago... my goal is to make at least 200 donations 💪🤟💪🤟
In addition to being a member-donor, I am a member of the Avis board of directors in my city (Reggio Calabria), in the past I was also a member of the Avis Giovani national executive (obviously when I was young... now I'm a Umarell!👨🦳 ).
Returning to the Befana, the association dedicates this day to the children of our donors, a show is put on at the municipal theater, after which we distribute games to everyone!
For us volunteers, the day begins with the unloading of the parcels and the setting up of the room; then there is the show, for some years now, in addition to the magician, Oreste Castagna, a well-known presenter of children's programs here in Italy, has been coming to visit us (that's what they say, even if, I confess, until two years ago I didn't know not even who dehihi was).
After the show, the long-awaited moment for the children, the arrival of the Befana on stage and the distribution of gifts!
I adore these occasions in which we are all together in joy; our beloved association always organizes so many and this makes me happy, also because everything is done for an important purpose such as the collection of blood which is always in short supply.
Donating only takes 10 minutes but it can save a life, I always invite everyone who can to do so.
Obviously, after the show and the distribution of the gifts, the day comes to an end but not for everyone, with the volunteers we take everything apart and leave the theater clean and then we of the board of directors, to thank them for their help, bring everyone to lunch and of course we pay!
Today, however, lunch is still far away since I'm writing this post live, in fact, our comedian is performing right now...

La giornata di oggi, come ogni anno è speciale, è il giorno dell'Epifania e soprattutto è la Befana dell'Avis!
Partiamo dal principio; Avis, per chi non lo sapesse sta per: Associazione Volontari Italiani Sangue; io sono Avisino da 22 anni circa, ho fatto la mia prima donazione proprio il giorno del mio diciottesimo compleanno e o sono arrivato a 100 un mese fa... il mio obiettivo e fare almeno 200 donazioni 💪🤟💪🤟
Oltre ad essere socio-donatore faccio parte del consiglio direttivo dell'Avis della mia città (Reggio Calabria), in passato sono stato anche membro dell'esecutivo Nazionale Avis Giovani (quando ero giovane ovviamente... ormai sono un Umarell!👨🦳).
Tornando alla Befana, l'associazione dedica questa giornata ai bimbi dei nostro donatori, viene fatto uno spettacolo al teatro comunale, al termine del quale, distribuiamo giochi a tutti!
La giornata per noi volontari inizia con lo scarico dei pacchi e la sistemazione della sala; dopo c'è lo spettacolo, da qualche anno, oltre al mago, sta venendo a trovarci Oreste Castagna un noto presentatore di programmi per bambini qui in Italia (si dice così, anche se, Ti confesso, fino a due anni fa io non sapevo nemmeno chi fosse dehihi).
Dopo lo spettacolo il momento tanto atteso dai bambini, l'arrivo della Befana sul palco e la distribuzione dei regali!
Io adoro queste occasioni in cui si sta tutti insieme in allegria; la nostra amata associazione ne organizza sempre davvero tante e questo mi rende felice, anche perché, il tutto è fatto per uno scopo importante come la raccolta del sangue che scarseggia sempre.
Donare prende solo 10 minuti di tempo ma può salvare una vita, io invito sempre tutti quelli che possono a farlo.
Ovviamente, dopo lo spettacolo e la distribuzione dei doni, la giornata volge al termine ma non per tutti, con i volontari si provvede a smontare tutto e lasciare pulito il teatro e poi noi del consiglio direttivo, per ringraziarli dell'aiuto, portiamo tutti a pranzo e ovviamente paghiamo noi!
Oggi però il pranzo è ancora lontano visto che, questo post, lo sto scrivendo in diretta infatti, il nostro comico, si sta esibendo proprio in questo momento...
