Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.

Irma Vep è il titolo di questa strana ed effimera creatura di HBO di cui oggi vi parlo limitatamente all'episodio pilota che tante buona sensazioni ha lasciato, compresa quella di non sapere esattamente da dove partire nella classificazione dei pregi di una serie tutto sommato indefinita.

Un detrattore della nuova serie HBO potrebbe sostenere che Irma Vep è una serie fumosa, inconsistente e che sembra non andare da nessuna parte.
In sostanza, non avrebbe torto a difendere tali ragioni.
In concreto, però, quella inconsistenza, quella fumosità, restituisce allo spettatore l'immagina di una serie, e di una protagonista, tutta da svelare e che nel pilot è stata mostrata da diverse angolature e da diversi filtri ma senza mai volersi mettere a nudo.
Ed è cosi che, la serie, come la sua protagonista, ha come indossato una tutina aderente e misteriosa, atta a renderla agile e snella ma anche sfuggente, proprio come Mira (Alicia Vikander) durante la passeggiata furtiva lungo le scale della maison in cui scopre per la prima volta l'abito che indosserà nel lungometraggio di cui sarà protagonista, dal titolo, appunto, Irma Vep.

Attorno a Mira si diradano nebbie che ci portano nei luoghi più disparati.
Dal set di Irma Vep ad un party "hollywoodiano", da un teatro d'opera a quello di posa, dall'atrio di un hotel al retro di una limousine.
I personaggi e le atmosfere che affollano quei luoghi sono anch'essi rarefatti ed intriganti.
Una su tutte è Laurie (una sensualissima Adria Arjona), moglie del regista dell'ultimo successo di Mira ed ex assistente di Mira stessa.
Scopriremo che tra Laurie e Mira si cela un passato di amore e passione travolgente, tutti sentimenti che ritornano e che esplodono in un paio di scene cariche di eros e tensione sessuale.
C'è un po' di tutto ed un po' di niente in questa prima puntata di Irma Vep, serie che potrebbe andare a parare ovunque o potrebbe restare ferma immobile al punto di partenza, come un ciclista a cui viene forata una gomma al momento dello start di una grande corsa a tappe.
Scopriremo nel tempo quanto di buono ci sarà nello show HBO.

Did you miss a series with the very talented Alicia Vikander?

Lovers of French cinema?

Obsessed with HBO series?

HBO is back again to amaze and does so with a series set in France, jointly produced with the transalpines and oozing "France" from every pore.
Alicia Vikander is the absolute star of this series written, conceived and directed by a French filmmaker that probably none of you (including me will know).
His name is Olivier Assayas and he is also the one who presented the film of the same name at the Cannes Film Festival in 1996.
Irma Vep is the title of this strange and ephemeral creature from HBO of which I am telling you today limited to the pilot episode that left so many good feelings, including that of not knowing exactly where to start in classifying the merits of an all-too-indefinite series.

A detractor of the new HBO series might argue that Irma Vep is a steamy, flimsy series that seems to be going nowhere.
In essence, he would not be wrong to defend such reasons.
Concretely, however, that flimsiness, that smokiness, returns to the viewer the image of a series, and of a protagonist, all to be revealed and who in the pilot was shown from different angles and through different filters but without ever wanting to lay herself bare.
And so it is that, the series, like its protagonist, has like wearing a tight and mysterious jumpsuit, apt to make her agile and slender but also elusive, just like Mira (Alicia Vikander) during the furtive walk down the stairs of the maison in which she discovers for the first time the dress she will wear in the feature film she will star in, entitled, precisely, Irma Vep.
Mira is an actress, of moderate success, success achieved through important roles earned within very commercial films, so-called blockbusters. Not sublime quality but enormous visibility have allowed her to be known but to be distanced from those circles she most covets, those of the so-called art house or independent cinema, which resent actresses so committed to light, disengaged films like those that have made Mira famous.
Around Mira, mists clear that take us to the most diverse places.
From the set of Irma Vep to a "Hollywood" party, from an opera house to an opera house, from a hotel lobby to the back of a limousine.
The characters and atmospheres that crowd those places are also rarefied and intriguing.
One over all is Laurie (a very sensuous Adria Arjona), wife of the director of Mira's latest hit and former assistant to Mira herself.
We discover that there is a history of overwhelming love and passion between Laurie and Mira, all feelings that return and explode in a couple of scenes charged with eros and sexual tension.
There is a little bit of everything and a little bit of nothing in this first installment of Irma Vep, a series that could go anywhere or it could stand still at the starting point, like a cyclist who gets a flat tire at the start of a major stage race.
We will find out over time how much good there will be in the HBO show.
Today we are left with very good vibes, a good Alicia Vikander and excellent but really good direction that at times reminded me of that of a beautiful flop dated 2020, the one signed by Damien Chazelle in The Eddy series.
Let us hope that the thud will not come for Irma Vep as well and that, indeed, the many good things seen in the pilot will be confirmed and amplified by the next episodes.
