Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.
La protagonista è la giovane Khamala Khan, ragazza non certo tra le più popolari della scuola, fan sfegatata di Captain Marvel ed aspirante cosplayer della supereroina apparsa negli Avenger canonici.
Il retrogusto che lascia il primo episodio è piacevole, consapevoli di non essere di fronte allo show della vita.
Come anticipato, questa serie non presenta grandi nomi, ne nel cast (costituito principalmente da giovanissimi attori), ne nei personaggi appartenenti allo sconfinato universo Marvel.
Il pilot si mostra quasi come un tributo a tutta la mitologia Marvel, con tanto di AvengerCon inaugurale a celebrare i fasti degli eroi ammirati in tutti i lungometraggi sin qui apparsi sul grande schermo.
Captain Marvel è l'eroe più menzionato e celebrato, essendo la musa alla quale la giovane Khamala si ispira, andando contro usi, costumi ed aspettative della propria allegra, simpatica e rigida famigliola.
L'amicizia con Bruno rappresenta la quasi unica ancora di salvezza ed il totem al quale Khamala si aggrappa per restare con un piede nella realtà ed uno nella immaginazione.
Tra i 2 ragazzi vi è grande chimica (e forse qualcosa di più) e questo si avverte in ogni sequenza in cui i 2 interagiscono.
Khamala, infatti, è distratta dalla voglia di essere parte di quel mondo poderoso e sfavillante che gli Avenger le hanno mostrato. Amici, professori e la famiglia tutta, invece, la vorrebbero vedere più concentrata e dedicata agli studi ed alle "cose serie" della vita.
Questo dualismo rappresenta il propellente per avviare il motore della narrazione che ci porta dritti agli eventi finali in cui il sogno di Khamala diventa realtà, grazie ad un misterioso braccialetto ripescato fra i cimeli di famiglia, subito dopo aver deluso reiteratamente le aspettative degli adorati genitori.
In definitiva, Ms Marvel non sarà la serie della vita, ne quella dell'anno, e probabilmente neppure del mese ma rappresenta un buon Guilty Pleasure, specie se siete amanti del Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As usual, today I am bringing you inside a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to constantly give you, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see at www.serialfiller.org.
Always craving Marvel?
Don't "gross out" very simple and light products?
Have you been waiting for a very boyish Marvel series?
In early June, Disney Plus, in the midst of Obi Wan Kenobi delirium, released the pilot of Ms Marvel, perhaps the least expected of the Marvel series that have appeared on the Disney Plus catagogue in the past year and a half.
No glorious heroes, this time, appear on screen but the scenes that make up the first episode are full of quotations.
The protagonist is young Khamala Khan, a girl who is certainly not among the most popular in the school, an avid fan of Captain Marvel and an aspiring cosplayer of the superheroine who appeared in the canonical Avengers.
The aftertaste left by the first episode is pleasant, knowing that we are not facing the show of a lifetime.
As anticipated, this series does not feature any big names, neither in the cast (consisting mainly of very young actors) nor in the characters belonging to the boundless Marvel universe.
The pilot almost shows itself as a tribute to the entire Marvel mythology, complete with an inaugural AvengerCon to celebrate the glories of the heroes admired in all the feature films that have so far appeared on the big screen.
Captain Marvel is the most mentioned and celebrated hero, being the muse from whom the young Khamala is inspired, going against the customs, mores and expectations of her own cheerful, sympathetic and rigid little family.
Friendship with Bruno represents the almost only lifeline and the totem to which Khamala clings to stay with one foot in reality and one in imagination.
There is great chemistry (and perhaps something more) between the 2 boys, and this is felt in every sequence in which the 2 interact.
Khamala, in fact, is distracted by the desire to be part of the mighty, glittering world that the Avengers have shown her. Friends, professors and the whole family, on the other hand, would like to see her more focused and dedicated to her studies and the "serious things" in life.
This dualism is the propellant to start the engine of the narrative that takes us straight to the final events in which Khamala's dream becomes a reality, thanks to a mysterious bracelet dug up among family heirlooms, just after repeatedly disappointing the expectations of her adoring parents.
Said and seen in this way, the series certainly does not offer admirable attention-grabbing insights, grafting itself into the mold of so many very simple and schematic teen series in which the rebellious boy tries to make his way through the skepticism and long faces of adults.
In its overall tone and pacing, however, Ms Marvel manages to be much more convincing, creating mechanisms that facilitate viewing and push the viewer to become attached to the 2 main characters.
Ultimately, Ms Marvel will not be the series of a lifetime, nor the series of the year, nor probably even of the month but it represents a good Guilty Pleasure, especially if you are a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
