Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.

Oggi è tempo di esperimenti visivi e narrativi, è tempo di uno show folgorante che dovete assolutamente recuperare. E' tempo di Severance. E' tempo di Apple. E' tempo di first impression. E' tempo di grandi show.

Severance mi ha colpito moltissimo e lo ha fatto sin dai primi istanti.
Una donna giace su un lungo tavolo.
La telecamera dall'alto riprende la scena.
Si denota una certa simmetria. In tutto. Nei colori e nelle forme, nella struttura e nella disposizione degli oggetti di scena.
Un tappeto colorato con forme e tonalità che rivedremo spesso. 8 Sedie disposte in maniera precisissime. La donna al centro. 4 mura a separarle dall'esterno.
Il mistero fittissimo che attanaglia i primi minuti ha però un'aria molto familiare.
L'atmosfera è quella del miglior Lost, quello del Dharma Project e di gente che premeva un pulsante senza sapere esattamente cosa facesse. Il contesto, però, è stavolta molto meno esotico e mistico. Siamo in un ufficio. Un ufficio molto classico ma che nasconde punti interrogativi enormi.
Ma torniamo alla donna.
Chi è?
Cosa ci fa lì?
Temiamo per lei. Sembra di essere all'alba di un film horror.
Scopriremo che cosi non è.
Una voce esce da un piccolo altoparlante all'estremità del tavolo.
Alla donna vengono sottoposte delle domande molto banali.
Come ti chiami? Il nome di tua madre? Uno stato degli USA? 5 domande banalissime.
La donna risponderà solo ad una delle 5. Delle altre 4 non ricorderà la risposta.
All'improvviso un uomo con volto rassicurante e giacca e cravatta si svelerà a lei.
Facciamo un passo indietro e Ben Stiller ci porta per 10 minuti a rivivere i passi che hanno portato quell'uomo ad aprire quella porta e presentarsi a quella donna.
Siamo a metà pilot e abbiamo scoperto poco ma siamo già intrigati da quello che potremo vedere e soprattutto da quel che abbiamo visto.
Pochi minuti ancora e scopriremo qualcosa di sconvolgente che si nasconde nella quotidianeità di quello strano ufficio.
Helly (la misteriosa donna dell'opening) è una candidata. E' stata selezionata (o meglio si è candidata) per il posto nel dipartimento di Refine. Per farlo avrebbe dovuto sottoporsi ad un intervento di scissione. E qui la bomba che cambia tutto e rende Severance qualcosa di unico.
La scissione permetterà, alla persona che andrà a sottoporsi all'intervento, di separare i propri ricordi in 2 tronconi. I ricordi professionali scatteranno solo quando sarà fisicamente all'interno degli uffici della Lumon. Quelli personali scatteranno solo al di fuori di quello spazio.

As usual today I bring you a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see in the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for some months now, I have decided to give you constantly, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see on www.serialfiller.org.

Today it's time for visual and narrative experiments, it's time for a dazzling show that you absolutely must catch up with. It's time for Severance. It's Apple time. It's time for first impressions. It's time for great shows.

Severance made a huge impression on me and did so from the very first moments.
A woman lies on a long table.
The overhead camera captures the scene.
It denotes a certain symmetry. In everything. In the colors and shapes, in the structure and arrangement of the props.
A colorful carpet with shapes and tones that we will see often. 8 Chairs arranged in a very precise manner. The woman in the center. 4 walls separating them from the outside.
The dense mystery that grips the first minutes has a very familiar air.
The atmosphere is that of the best Lost, that of the Dharma Project and people who pressed a button without knowing exactly what they were doing. The context, however, is this time much less exotic and mystical. We are in an office. A very classic office but one that hides huge question marks.
But let's go back to the woman.
Who is she?
What is she doing there?
We fear for her. It seems to be at the dawn of a horror movie.
We find out that this is not the case.
A voice comes out of a small speaker at the end of the table.
The woman is asked some very mundane questions.
What is your name? Your mother's name? A state in the USA? 5 very trivial questions.
The woman will only answer one of the 5. Of the other 4 she will not remember the answer.
Suddenly a man with a reassuring face and a suit and tie will reveal himself to her.
We take a step back and Ben Stiller takes us for 10 minutes to relive the steps that led that man to open that door and introduce himself to that woman.
We're halfway through the pilot and we've discovered very little, but we're already intrigued by what we're going to see and especially by what we've seen.
A few minutes more and we'll discover something shocking that hides in the daily routine of that strange office.
Helly (the mysterious woman from the opening) is a candidate. She has been selected (or rather she has applied) for the position in Refine's department. In order to do so, she would have to undergo cleavage surgery. And here is the bombshell that changes everything and makes Severance something unique.
The split will allow the person who is going to undergo the surgery to separate their memories into 2 sections. Professional memories will only click when he or she is physically inside the Lumon offices. Personal ones will only click outside of that space.
