Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.

Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black, Perry Mason) è Jennifer Walters, avvocato in rampa di lancio e cugina di Bruce Banner, per tutti Hulk.
La serie si apre con Jennifer intenta a provare quella che sarà un'arringa che potrebbe cambiarle la carriera, tra lo scetticismo di un suo collega e l'entusiasmo della sua collega/migliore amica Nikki.
Pochi istanti e la quarta parete viene abbattuta.
Tatiana Maslany rompe il muro immaginario e si rivolge a noi avviando un flashback atto a spiegarci le origini della sua doppia personalità.
Come da premesse, come da trailer, come da fumetto, come da titolo, Tatiana Maslany avrebbe interpretato She Hulk ovvero una versione femminile del più noto Hulk che da sempre si nasconde e nasconde dietro il volto e la personalità di Bruce Banner.
Torniamo rapidamente indietro e scopriamo che Jennifer e Bruce, durante un road trip in macchina, da cugini amichevoli e quasi fraterni, si imbattono in un'astronave che distrae Jennifer e la costringe ad un fuoristrada abbastanza violento. Sia Bruce che Jennifer si feriranno. Il sangue del supereroe verde si contaminerà con quello della cugina, tramutandola in una Hulk in gonnella.
Seguirà il percorso di accettazione di Jennifer, l'addestramento da parte del cugino, gag più o meno riuscite, una buona dose di interazioni fra i 2, un'analisi del corpo e della mente di Jennifer e soprattutto un mescolarsi di consigli e richieste di Bruce verso Jennifer, nel tentativo di convincerla ad utilizzare a fin di bene i suoi poteri, e di non ignorarli, sprecarli, lasciarli in soffitta.
Il tutto funziona, nella sua semplicità, molto bene.
I dialoghi sembrano piatti, la stratificazione dei personaggi quasi nulla, il tentativo di offrire allo spettatore qualcosa in più quasi risibile, gli easter eggs solo degli ovetti lasciati in giro per casa senza davvero avere mai un significato profondo. E' come aver appena fatto un tour di decine di ristoranti con 3 stelle michelin per poi essere invitato in un discreto ristorantino in centro. In molti apprezzeranno quella salsina, strabuzzeranno gli occhi di fronte a quel particolare impiattamento, scatteranno foto da condividere su Instagram, glorificheranno la cottura della carne, della pasta, del pesce ma per te, che vieni ad un tour stellato, quei piatti sembreranno quasi insulsi.
She Hulk, soffre, da parte mia che sono stato invitato, come tanti di voi, sotto il cielo stellato di Better Call Saul, di questa manifesta inferiorità ma questa non è certo colpa sua (almeno non totalmente) e soprattutto non sarebbe un problema solo di She Hulk ma letteralmente del 99,99% degli show su piazza.
Il blog, però, è un luogo dove provare ad essere oggettivi, contestuali e aperti a tutto, mettendoci dentro anche tutto quel coacervo di sensazioni, osservazioni, emozioni personalissime provate da chi scrive.
In termini di entertainment, dunque, nulla da eccepire.
Temo che, She Hulk, abbia sofferto molto di un pregiudizio del pubblico che, sin dal primo teaser trailer, ha sparato a zero sulla CGI e sulla resa visiva dello show. Il pilot ci dice che non era cosi malaccio, magari non a livello dei film ma neppure a livelli da teatrino imbastito da 15 ragazzini del liceo.

As usual, today I am bringing you inside a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to constantly give you, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see at www.serialfiller.org.

Can't go a month without Marvel?

Is the Hulk the hero you appeal to in your nerdy dreams?

Do you adore, as I do, Tatiana Maslany?

Last August 18, while many of you (of us) were on your cell phones hoping for weather clemency (and a swim in the sea), Disney Plus released the pilot episode of She Hulk, or rather She Hulk: Attorney At Law (that's the extended title of the series), a new (and yet another) Marvel TV series integrated with the expanded universe, the so-called marvel cinematic universe.
The penultimate series of the MCU that had appeared on Disney screens had been Moon Knight (review of the finale here), a TV series with a great lead actor (Oscar Isaac) called upon to play an unfamiliar character with mixed results, dictated by an underlying fatigue at the narrative level that seems to be involving the entire Marvel authorial park.
With She Hulk the same pattern is repeated, more or less.
Big-name actress (though less well known than Isaac) called upon to play a character not exactly well-known.
How will she fare?

Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black, Perry Mason) is Jennifer Walters, up-and-coming lawyer and cousin of Bruce Banner, the Hulk to everyone.
The series opens with Jennifer intent on rehearsing what will be a career-changing argument, amid the skepticism of one of her colleagues and the enthusiasm of her colleague/best friend Nikki.
A few moments and the fourth wall is broken down.
Tatiana Maslany breaks through the imaginary wall and addresses us by initiating a flashback designed to explain the origins of her dual personality.
As per the premise, as per the trailer, as per the comic book, as per the title, Tatiana Maslany would play She Hulk i.e., a female version of the better-known Hulk who has always been hiding and concealing himself behind the face and personality of Bruce Banner.
We quickly go back and find that Jennifer and Bruce, on a road trip as friendly, almost fraternal cousins, run into a spaceship that distracts Jennifer and forces her into a fairly violent off-road trip. Both Bruce and Jennifer are injured. The green superhero's blood will become contaminated with her cousin's, turning her into a Hulk in skirts.
This is followed by Jennifer's journey of acceptance, training by her cousin, more or less successful gags, a good deal of interaction between the 2, an analysis of Jennifer's body and mind, and above all a mingling of Bruce's advice and requests toward Jennifer, in an attempt to convince her to use her powers for good, and not to ignore them, waste them, leave them in the attic.
The whole works, in its simplicity, very well.
The chemistry between the actors is excellent, Tatiana Maslany shows everyone the ease with which, since the days of the forgotten but unforgettable Orphan Black, she can pull off an impressive range of micro and macro expressions and emotions even in a series as low-key and simple as this one, a few references to the MCU are there, especially regarding the Bromance between Tony Stark and Bruce Banner, and everything runs smoothly, like oil.
For those who, like me, are still immersed body and soul in the perfection and melancholy of Better Call Saul's farewell, it is almost futile to try to seek out something even vaguely "high" like Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould's series. Approaching a series like She Hulk, for those coming from the BreakingBadian glories, is unnerving and also, somewhat, pointless.
The dialogue seems flat, the layering of characters almost nil, the attempt to offer the viewer something extra almost laughable, the easter eggs just left around the house without really ever having any deep meaning. It's like having just taken a tour of dozens of 3-star Michelin restaurants only to be invited to a discreet little restaurant downtown. Many people will appreciate that sauce, they will squint at that particular dish, they will take pictures to share on Instagram, they will glorify the cooking of the meat, the pasta, the fish, but to you, coming to a starred tour, those dishes will seem almost insulting.
