Ieri ho visitato l'anfiteatro romano una delle maggiori costruzioni dell'età Romana presente qui a Siracusa e scavata nella viva roccia.
Se passate da qui non potete perdermi la visita questo anfiteatro l'età della sua costruzione non è ancora certa ma si pensi risalga al 21 a.C. da parte dell'imperatore Augusto proprio perché è stata ritrovata un'iscrizione che riportava all'età augustea.
All' anfiteatro si può accedere da due ingressi da ingresso nord e ingresso Sud ,l'anfiteatro utilizza l'andamento naturale del terreno Infatti è stato costruito proprio su un pendio dove la parte inferiore è stata scavata nella roccia c'era anche una parte più sopraelevata che poi è scomparsa nel tempo perché è stata utilizzata per costruire delle fortificazioni da parte degli Spagnoli.
Attualmente è uno dei maggiori anfiteatri esistenti Sicilia come dimensione in Italia secondo soltanto a quello di Verona.
l'ho trovata una visita molto interessante Peccato che come al solito specialmente Sicilia i siti archeologici siano un po' trascurati ma sono sicuro che col tempo verrà dato più valore a questa straordinaria costruzione.
Yesterday I visited the Roman amphitheater, one of the major constructions of the Roman age present here in Syracuse and carved into the living rock.
If you pass by here you cannot miss visiting this amphitheater the age of its construction is not yet certain but it is thought that it dates back to 21 BC. by the emperor Augustus precisely because an inscription was found that referred to the Augustan age.
The amphitheater can be accessed from two entrances from the north entrance and the south entrance, the amphitheater uses the natural course of the land. elevated which then disappeared over time because it was used to build fortifications by the Spaniards.
It is currently one of the largest amphitheaters in Sicily in terms of size in Italy second only to that of Verona.
I found it a very interesting visit. Too bad that as usual especially Sicily the archaeological sites are a bit neglected but I am sure that over time more value will be given to this extraordinary construction
