It is week 4 of PhotoGames asked for a PET picture for Show off Saturday.
I had a lot of ideas for pet pictures...
Dogs
I thought should I put a dog picture. really likes dogs and has a beautiful black lab.
Chickens
Or what about chickens? I have some great chicken pictures and again is a farmer and likes chickens.
I think I was too late for a chicken picture, already posted an awesome chicken shot!
Goat, Sheep, Horse, Pig
They are all farm animals. Would they all be considered pets? I don't know.....
Lamas
Or what about the very unusual pet of a llama? They are so cute!
In the end I decided to go with a cat picture.
Cats
Here are some of the cat pictures I considered.
The cat that I am submitting is my mom's pet Jake.
I am going to quote myself from a blog post in 2019 called A Sweet Sacred Experience and tell you a little about Jake and how he was right by my mom's side while she was dying.
Kathy Jarvie and Jake
Watching my mom's cat Jake was a treat. He sensed her illness and would rarely leave her side. One of the hardest nights for me was the night before she died. Jake wanted to be near her and that was causing her lots of stress so it was decided that he should be taken to my mom' friend, Ruth's house.
Jake cried on the car ride. Whether from being scared of going in the car or missing my mom and being taken from her when he thought she needed him most. I also cried as he cried as we drove to Ruth's.
Jake doesn't make any sounds. He taps my mom's arm to get her to feed him or patiently waits till someone is in the kitchen then runs over in hopes he would be fed. When he is let out he waits patiently at the door to be let back in. I don't think I ever heard him meow and so the crying on the way to Ruth's matched my own sadness of soon to be without my mom too.
I am submitting the photo below because to me it is a picture of a pet that was so loving and wanted to be right next to my mom to love and comfort her. In this picture Jake was at her feet with his head and paw on her foot to let her know he was there. So sweet. I don't have any pets and haven't since I lived with my parents. I understand why people have pets and I am most tempted to get one when I see beautiful interactions like this.
I also like how is laughing at Jake and his insistence to be touching my mom. So glad I captured this sweet moment.
