Cuando llegué a España me ocurrió algo muy curioso en cuanto a los gatos. Durante varios días no pude ver ni un solo gato en las calles. Llegué a pensar que no existían gatos callejeros aquí. De hecho, estoy convencido de que aquí en la Isla de Tenerife no existen perros callejeros. Cero hasta la fecha han visto mis ojos. El comportamiento de los perros domésticos en las calles es ejemplar, me atrevería a decir que mejor que el de nosotros los seres humanos.
Volviendo al tema de los gatos, pasaron casi dos semanas hasta que al fin pude divisar uno, el cual huyó escabulléndose hacia un terreno baldío en construcción. A partir de allí, los avistamientos de gatos en las calles se incrementaron, hasta el punto de que me he llegado a encontrar con 5 o 6 de ellos a la vez en algunas zonas de la ciudad. Cas todos ellos huyen al acercarme, otros se mantienen cerca pero alerta, y sólo unos dos o tres se han dejado tocar.
Ahora, prácticamente veo al menos un gato todos los díasen la calle, y me pregunto si será casualidad o no, no es que crea en supersticiones o cosas así, pero los gatos siempre han tenido un lugar especial en mi vida. Unos meses atrás creé un post/video en mi canal de 3Speak, recopilando videos de todos los gatos que me había encontrado hasta la fecha. In fact, I am convinced that here on the island of Tenerife there are no stray dogs. Zero to date have seen my eyes. The behavior of domestic dogs in the streets is exemplary, I would dare to say better than that of us humans.
Getting back to the cats, it was almost two weeks before I finally spotted one, which ran away and scurried into a vacant lot under construction. From then on, the sightings of cats on the streets increased, to the point that I have come across 5 or 6 of them at a time in some areas of the city. Nearly all of them run away as I approach, others stay close but alert, and only two or three of them have let themselves be touched.
Now, I practically see at least one cat every day on the street, and I wonder if it's a coincidence or not, not that I believe in superstitions or anything like that, but cats have always had a special place in my life.
