Today I decided to give a different twist to my usual walk, I woke up at dawn with a lot of back pain, so I didn't feel like going out to do what I always do, but I knew that going for a walk would help me a lot with the pain, so after some stretching at home I decided to go for a different walk than every day. This time I dared to climb a small hill near my house, from which you can have a wonderful view of the town and our beloved "Don Goyo".
The Popocatépetl volcano, popularly known as "Don Goyo", is one of the most active and monitored volcanoes in Mexico (in fact, I think it is the most). Living near an active volcano is quite interesting, on the one hand, we always have spectacular views, since it is so big that it is impossible to miss it from almost anywhere in this city, but on the other hand, we live with the constant annoyance of dealing with the ash from its daily exhalations. Luckily, we live far enough away from it that we don't have time to evacuate if there is a strong eruption.
Climbing "San Miguel" was quite an experience, I did end up feeling better from the pain in my back, however, I climbed with so much effort that I couldn't even remember to take pictures as I made my way to the top. Although the climb was quite a trek for me, once at the top it was worth it, the fresh air is incredible and the view is spectacular.
Maybe from now on, on Sundays I will decide to change the route of my daily walk, instead of going to the centre of town, I will climb this little hill, after all, the view is completely worth the effort.
Caminata dominical al cerro de "San Miguel"
El día de hoy decidí darle un giro diferente a mi caminata habitual, amanecí con bastante dolor de espalda, así que no tenía muchas ganas de salir a hacer lo de siempre, pero sabía que salir a caminar me ayudaría mucho con el dolor, así que después de unos estiramientos en casa decidí salir a recorrer un camino diferente al de todos los días. Esta vez me atreví a subir un pequeño cerro que se encuentra cerca de mi casa, desde el cual se puede tener una vista maravillosa del pueblo y de nuestro querido “Don Goyo”.
El volcán Popocatépetl, conocido popularmente como “Don Goyo”, es uno de los volcanes más activos y monitoreados de México (de hecho, creo que es el más). Vivir cerca de un volcán activo es bastante interesante, por un lado, siempre tenemos vistas espectaculares, ya que al ser de gran tamaño es imposible no verlo casi desde cualquier punto de esta ciudad, pero, por otra parte, vivimos con el constante fastidio que es lidiar con la ceniza de sus exhalaciones diarias. Por suerte vivimos lo suficientemente lejos de él como para que no nos dé tiempo de evacuar si presenta una erupción fuerte.
Subir el cerro de “San Miguel” fue toda una experiencia, al final sí terminé sintiéndome mejor del dolor de espalda, sin embargo, subí con tanto esfuerzo que no pude ni siquiera acordarme de tomar fotos mientras recorría el camino hacia la cima. Si bien subir fue una travesía para mí, una vez arriba todo vale la pena, se respira un aire fresco increíble, además de poder disfrutar de una vista espectacular.
Quizás a partir de ahora, los domingos me decida a cambiar la ruta de mi caminata diaria, en lugar de dirigirme al centro del pueblo, mejor emprenderé la subida a este cerrito, a final de cuentas, la vista vale completamente el esfuerzo.
