A glance back to the summer and the jubilee activities…
The first few days of June saw the 70th year celebrations of the then Queen's 'reign'. This was always likely to be the last of its kind and many people got into the spirit of it. I will say I'm not a monarchist so the underlying concept means nothing to me, but I am happy for a get-together and a party. Many of us aren't exactly Christians either but I'm sure we can spend time with family and friends at Christmas regardless and use that time as an excuse to meet and be merry.
I had just got back to England for a little visit, not so much for this event in particular but because it coincided with other things and that's how the chips fell. Exeter is a lovely little city near to where I'm from and I spent a day or so there before heading to my hometown for various shenanigans. There's a grand cathedral and I've never seen the surrounding Green (or the city in general) so packed, and nice to see it all bathed in sunshine.
A pleasant few days for me and many others. I can't see us hitting a decade with the new chap for one reason and another, but we'll see!
