We’ve just wrapped up our first week selling the ice pops my mom makes, and it’s been a week full of stories, anecdotes, jokes, and also many moments of sadness. Street vending is a unique experience—it really opens your eyes to how society, culture, and the streets truly are.
I can say that I’m skilled, quick, and agile when it comes to selling, but every time I hear a new life story from another vendor, it always puts things into perspective—for my own life and for others’.
There is a lot of kindness out there, yes. A lot of warmth and generosity. But there is also cruelty. I’m still learning, still observing. It truly makes me happy to see people’s faces when they try the ice pops and say, “It’s really good,” because it means that all the effort turns into a good product. Earning money 🫰 honestly, and receiving such nice feedback, is deeply gratifying.
Sales were low this week—it was a week to adapt, set things up, and test the experience. I hope next week will be much better and that we can successfully sell everything. 🙏
Ya concluimos la primera semana vendiendo los helados que hace mi mamá y es una semana llena de cuentos, anécdotas, chistes y también muchas tristezas. La venta ambulante es una experiencia única, que te abre mucho los ojos sobre cómo es la sociedad, la cultura y la calle.
Puedo decir que soy diestra, rápida y ágil vendiendo pero cada que escucho una nueva historia de vida de algún vendedor me pone en perspectiva siempre, sobre mi propia vida y la de otros.
Hay mucha bondad afuera, sí. Hay mucha amabilidad y gentileza. Sin embargo también está la maldad. Soy una aprendiz y una observadora. Me alegra mucho ver la cara de quienes prueban los helados y dicen "está muy bueno" porque significa que todo el esfuerzo empleado genera un buen producto, es gratificante ganarse el dinero 🫰 de forma honesta y con tan bonitos comentarios.
La venta esta semana fue baja, fue una semana para adaptarnos, configurar y testear la experiencia. Espero que la próxima semana sea mucho mejor y pueda terminar con éxito todas las ventas. 🙏
