I was on travel for most of the past seven weeks, including a five week stint in Australia and New Zealand. In preparation for such, I cut off most of my gardening and edible crops early, rather than burden someone with looking after them.
The one thing I did sustain are my strawberries. They are in a raised planter on casters, which enabled me to roll them to a neighbor's place for him to care for. That wasn't a hard sell, as he would be enjoying 5-10 per week for his efforts.
Now that fall is approaching, the weekly yield should step up to 10-15. The qualtity is perfect for savoring thier sumptuous flavors and textures without over-indulging. Not that I would mind!
These plants are a year old, and are showing no signs of slowing down.
