This past Sunday was our first full day at Jersey Shore where we didn't spend half of the day driving. My family and I were all out of bed early in the morning and were able to gather our things and get set up on the beach before 10 am.
We ended up staying outside until a little after 3 pm. Getting out early allowed us to secure a great spot nearby to the beach entrance without anybody in front of us blocking the view of the ocean. We were atop some dunes, so we didn't have to worry about repositioning due to the tide.
I've never been to a beach where the whistle blows as much as it does here in Seaside Heights, NJ. The lifeguards actually seem to be doing their job. They're mainly guiding people away from riptides, which of course is a good thing. Unless you are like me and enjoy being in the rougher parts of the water. They didn't seem to be okay with anybody going out very far into the water.
Temperatures were pretty much perfect on Sunday, right around 80°F. Compare that to Saturday when it was 100°F and painfully hot outside. We were all glad that we didn't force ourselves to the beach on Saturday because being burnt for the whole week is the last thing any of us wanted.
After the beach, we ended up at this Irish Pub called Klee's Bar & Grill. My brother, mom, and I all ended up ordering a meatloaf sandwich. It was absolutely delicious. My dad on the other hand ordered their famous Reuben. It looked great to me but was served open-faced and required silverware to eat. A bit unusual for a Reuben.
After our late lunch, we headed over to this place called Fumosa Brothers Bakery. This place was absolutely stacked with dessert options. We left the place with some cannolis, a giant cheese Danish, Boston cream pie cupcakes, and a carrot cake cupcake. I'd say either the cheese Danish or the carrot cake cupcake was my favorite thing. Every single treat that we tried was tasty though.
After we were all completely stuffed we came back inside and watched some YouTube prank videos together. If you want to check out these hilarious videos too then I recommend Christian Caniff and Myhouseisdirty, both of which are totally outrageous and great at pissing random people off in public with their antics.
After an hour or so of YouTube videos, most of us were ready for a nap. I managed to stay awake somehow but was definitely feeling a bit sleepy after getting up early and spending most of the day outside on the beach. I encouraged everyone to go outside on on of our decks to relax in the warmth of the evening beach weather. Our house is right next to a liquor store on one of the busiest roads in the area. We had plenty to watch and be entertained by. Tito and Fritz especially enjoyed the action as they were no longer stuck inside the house.
Once we all perked back up, we decided to watch the new Nic Cage film Sympathy For the Devil, which you too can watch for free by visiting this link. I thought it was pretty good and mostly just enjoyed Cage being Cage. If I had to describe the movie, it reminded me a lot of the old Tom Cruise/Jamie Foxx film Collateral.
I went to bed shortly after the movie so that I wouldn't have any problems getting out of bed around 7:30 the following morning to prepare for another day at the beach.
