Today was my wife’s cousin Gabi’s birthday, and we were invited to have lunch at a seaside restaurant. The place is very pleasant, facing the meeting point between the sea and the tide, which makes the view even more beautiful. On top of that, the food is really good, with a homemade style that fits the atmosphere perfectly.

We ordered a portion of garlic shrimp, fried fish, and fish steaks, all served with that delicious fish pirão. The celebration was very intimate, with only close family gathered to celebrate Gabi’s birthday. We ate a lot, talked a lot, and for a few hours we were able to forget a little about the problems of everyday life. It was a very enjoyable day.

The only less enjoyable part was the financial side of it: transportation, food, and also the birthday gift. My wife picked out a very thoughtful gift, and it was up to me to figure out how to cover all those expenses. It’s funny how, just when we decide to save money and slow down a bit, occasions like this always seem to come up.

At the end of the afternoon, Gabi’s husband invited us to sing happy birthday with a small cake and some savory snacks. It was a really nice moment, especially for the birthday girl. Some people truly enjoy celebrating dates like this, and it’s nice to see. I’m a bit more reserved and usually prefer not to celebrate these occasions as much, but I do enjoy being present for these family moments.

Hoje foi aniversário da prima da minha esposa, a Gabi, e fomos convidados para almoçar em um restaurante à beira-mar. O ambiente é muito agradável, de frente para o encontro do mar com a maré, o que deixa tudo ainda mais bonito. Além disso, a comida é muito boa, com aquele estilo caseiro que combina perfeitamente com o lugar.

Pedimos porção de camarão ao alho, peixe frito e peixe em posta, tudo acompanhado daquele delicioso pirão de peixe. A comemoração foi bem reservada, apenas com a família reunida para celebrar o aniversário da Gabi. Comemos bastante, conversamos bastante e, por algumas horas, conseguimos esquecer um pouco os problemas do dia a dia. Foi um dia muito agradável.

A única parte menos divertida foi a financeira: transporte, alimentação e ainda o presente da aniversariante. Minha esposa escolheu um presente bem caprichado, e sobrou para mim me virar com todos esses gastos. É incrível como, justamente quando a gente decide economizar e pisar no freio, sempre aparece alguma ocasião assim.

No fim da tarde, o marido da Gabi nos chamou para cantar os parabéns com um pequeno bolo e alguns salgados. Foi um momento bem legal, principalmente para a aniversariante. Tem gente que realmente gosta de celebrar essas datas, e isso é bonito de ver. Eu já sou mais reservado e prefiro não comemorar tanto, mas gosto de estar presente nesses momentos com a família.
