Este par de fotos las tomé hace algunos días en el decanato de Humanidades y Artes de la UCLA, visitaba el ambiente universitario brevemente y me pregunté si quedarían bien un par de fotos en blanco y negro, y tomé algunas.
Las fotos en blanco y negro me evoncan cierta nostalgia, cierto aire de melancolía. Tienen cierta magia, tampoco pretendo nada ulterior o una disertación profunda el día de hoy. Pero, tras tomar estás fotos y editarlas un poco para intentar darle un mejor acabado pensé en algo muy particular.
A veces la vida parece transitar todo entre dicotomías, vigilia-sueño, salud-enfermedad, vida-muerte, riqueza-pobreza, blanco-negro, y solemos olvidar que no todo gira en torno a dos extremos.
La fotos blanco y negro no son siempre un alto contraste donde se marcan fuertemente la luz y la oscuridad, existe una escala de grises muy extendída que colorea de cierto modo la realidad captada en la foto, que aunque no sea una fiel expresión de la realidad en sus muchos y variados colores, es una interpretación válida.
Pensar eso, me hizo tener en cuanta que no hay que olvidar los matices...

Between black and white
I took this pair of photos a few days ago at the UCLA College of Humanities and Arts. I was visiting the university briefly and wondered if a couple of black and white photos would look good, so I took some.
Black and white photos evoke a certain nostalgia, a certain air of melancholy. They have a certain magic, but I'm not trying to make any deeper point or give a profound dissertation today. However, after taking these photos and editing them a little to try to give them a better finish, I thought of something very particular.
Sometimes life seems to move between dichotomies: wakefulness-sleep, health-illness, life-death, wealth-poverty, black-white, and we tend to forget that not everything revolves around two extremes.
Black and white photos are not always high contrast, with light and dark strongly marked; there is a very extensive gray scale that colors the reality captured in the photo in a certain way, which, although it is not a faithful expression of reality in its many and varied colors, is a valid interpretation.
Thinking about this made me realize that we mustn't forget the nuances...
