ENGLISH VERSION
Today has been a really exhausting day, both mentally and physically. The day started normally, at around 7 a.m., when Zully was getting ready to give her dad breakfast and his first medications. She noticed that his catheter bag was very red, as if he were passing blood in his urine, and, alarmed, she told me that we had to go to the hospital immediately.
Fortunately, when we arrived, they attended to him right away. Since the healthcare system in Venezuela is very unique, they gave us a list of supplies we needed to get because they don't have the necessary equipment to treat patients. They only have the knowledge and willingness to help people who come in, but they have almost nothing.
I got everything and brought it in, and then they sent him for lab tests, hematology tests, and coagulation tests. They performed the necessary procedures, and we were there until 2 pm...
The diagnosis was that he must have accidentally injured himself with the catheter, to the point of rupturing his bladder. He was discharged with a 10-day treatment, but if we noticed that the bleeding did not stop on the fifth day, we would have to return to the emergency room...
When we got home, I had to go on a pilgrimage to different pharmacies looking for the most affordable treatment possible... And without even trying, we ended up spending about $40, not counting the supplies and tests at the hospital.
We hope he gets better... And well, the photos I'm sharing with you were taken at the hospital.
