Walking in the streets of Litochoro I had an ambivalent feeling as I couldn't define my surrounding as a small town or a big village. Probably because it is both! It lies at the foothills of mount Olympos, the highest mountain in Greece and the main reason to visit this ambiguous town - village (I won't lie to you about that) is to use it as a starting point for your hiking or even climbing adventures!
Nevertheless spending a couple of days at the town might not be a bad idea after all. Consider it as a decompression stop like the one the divers do. Not too much but just enough to lower your rhythm a bit and enter the mountain in a more relaxed and harmonized way.
Myself I was there working so I didn't had the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent mountain that was literally around the corner but I appreciated the easiness and gentle feeling of this town along with the abundance of fresh air coming either from the sea or the mountains!
Thank you for reading and if you want to know more about me you can check out my introduction post.
