The grungy side.
Just a reflection.
Where are you heading?
The chic store.
I lived in Singapore for many years. The first time I saw images of the city, which were shown to me by my workmates, I had mixed feelings. It seemed picturesque and captivating to me; however, the thought of commuting there made me nervous.
It wasn't until November 2011 that I was able to pay a visit. For some unknown reason, living there felt monotonous and dull as if it contained no color or wonder - until of course...
That week, I saw urban Singapore transform from grisly and unimpressive into one of vibrant wonder and splendorous elements under the light of stars in the night sky. I saw the city-state grow up in front of my eyes, with an impressive skyline and a near-endless expanse of lights and buildings. The future is bright for Singapore, and it’s all because of how many people work tirelessly to make it there.
Singapore is a small country but urban life invents something new and exciting almost every day. There are young and diverse stars who have created a vibrant and unique style.
The Malay Culture in Kampong Glam was triggered by the influx of a variety of refugees to Singapore who were representing a targeted group.
Singapore is a diverse and multicultural city. The diversity in segments such as culture and lifestyle in Singapore is reflected in the Kampong Glam district. It has managed to overcome language and integration barriers while simultaneously initiating upward mobility.
The pictures that I presented above are a few of the shots that I took while walking the streets of the Kampong Glam area. I hope you enjoyed this quick tour of Singapore through the lens. These photos also serve as my entry to the photography contest with the theme “Street Photography”.
My entry is for the Amateur category :D
