These photos were taken when I visited my aunt's house at the end of last year. The area around my parents' house is almost the same size of the town as the view looking down from the tea plantation (second photo from the top).
My mother often says, "People in Tokyo walk a lot".
Indeed, every time I return to my hometown, I think, "There are no humans...". I hardly see anyone walking outside. Maybe I don't see bicycles even more. There are a lot of cars driving around.
On December 30, I took my second son to a hair salon near my parents' house for a haircut. I have been taking care of this hairdresser since I was a high school student. He is very good at cutting hair, so I go there almost every time when I return home. I just looked at this hair salon on Google Maps and found that it is located 750 meters from my parents' house. For me, of course, it is within walking distance, and for my 4-year-old son, too. But when I told my parents that I was going for a haircut, they said, "Walking...? No, I'll drive you there" and they drop me off... lol
They probably ride their cars the same way I ride my bike. I am not trying to tell them to walk more. I just felt that their standard of "walking distance" was very different from mine. And I thought Tokyo was a more appropriate place to MOVE TO EARN than my hometown.
