No kidding! Japan has its very own "Costa del Sol" and I went there a couple of days ago to check it out. The beach is located on Iojima, an island just off the coast of Nagasaki, and yes, it is called "Costa del Sol." On a day like this you can immediately see why. Clear blue sea, fine sandy beach and a bright blue cloud-studded sky.
We hired a couple of big swimming rings and floated around on the surface of the sea. Sorry, no photos of that as, unlike some of the happy young couples who were totally into doing selfie shots together in their shared rings, I don't have a waterproof camera, and anyway I was also too busy attempting not to seem to be playing the voyeur... he he.
After spending the early morning dehydrating in the sauna, the middle of the day almost killing myself cycling up to see the lighthouse (see previous posts), I now proceeded to expose my marble-white and unprotected flesh to the fiery rage of the summer sun as I floated around on my rubber ring.
By the time we got back to our hotel I was as red as the raw slices of steak that were served up for us to cook on our barbeque for dinner. Still, the agony was mitigated by the close proximity of a beer tap for the "nomihoudai" ("drink-as-much-as-you-like-in-90-minutes) deal that was included with the barbecue deal.
All in all, not a bad day, and the self-inflicted pain reminds me that I am #alive if not necessarily #aliveandthriving !!
