Greetings friends of Liketu

I had never stopped to observe the beauties of the historic center of the city. To be honest, it is one of the places I do not usually visit given the distance from my residence, it is quite far away and I have only been there a little more than a couple of times for cultural events such as the Cumanesas evenings. In those events they present acts of all kinds (singing and dancing) and people set up various food stalls and delicious desserts.

One morning I was bored at home and decided to visit the place, I had the opportunity to go twice, so I took several pictures in two times, with a cloudy sky and then with a radiant sun that adorned a beautiful blue sky. There were not many people passing through the place, at least that was the case during the cloudy day. However, there were more people on that sunny morning. In the first photo I was able to capture the imposing Santa Inés Church, one of the oldest in the city of Cumaná and declared National Historical Heritage since 1960. On January 21 is celebrated the day of Santa Inés, the Patron Saint of Cumaná in honor of the miraculous virgin.

The historic center contains part of the history and culture of Cumaná. It is very attractive for its characteristic colonial style houses of multiple colors and picturesque alleys full of flowers. The site invites tranquility, so much so that people approach the church and sit to contemplate the surroundings from its huge stairs. If Santa Inés is one of the oldest churches in the city, I tell you that right in front of it is planted an old tree, also one of the oldest, full of interesting stories like the whole place. On its trunk hangs a sign "I am old but I am still standing". A beautiful message for those who feel tired and think they are giving up. It is truly an inspiring message to keep going, no matter how old we are, in the face of adversity.

Nunca me había detenido a observar las bellezas del casco histórico de la ciudad. Para ser sincera, es uno de los lugares que no suelo visitar dada la distancia desde mi residencia, es bastante lejos y solo he estado allí un poco más de un par de veces por eventos culturales como las tardes Cumanesas. En esos eventos presentan actos de todo tipo (canto y baile) y las personas colocan diversos puestos de comidas y deliciosos postrecillos.

Una mañana estaba aburrida en casa y decidí visitar el lugar, tuve la oportunidad de ir dos veces, por lo que tomé varias fotografías en dos tiempos, con el cielo nublado y luego con un sol radiante que engalanó a un hermoso cielo azul. No había mucha gente transitando por el lugar, al menos fue así durante el día nublado. No obstante, se observó más afluencia de personas en aquella mañana soleada. En la primera foto pude capturar la imponente Iglesia Santa Inés, una de las más antiguas de la ciudad de Cumaná y que fue declarada Patrimonio Histórico Nacional desde el año 1960. El 21 de enero se celebra el día de Santa Inés, la Patrona de Cumaná en honor a la virgen milagrosa.

El casco histórico encierra parte de la historia y cultura de Cumaná. Es muy vistoso por sus características casitas de estilo colonial de múltiples colores y callejones pintorescos colmados de flores. El sitio invita a la tranquilidad, tanto, que las personas se acercan a la iglesia y se sientan a contemplar los alrededores desde sus descomunales escaleras. Si Santa Inés es una de las iglesias más antiguas de la ciudad, les cuento que justo al frente está plantado un viejo árbol, también uno de los más antiguos, cargado de interesantes historias como todo el lugar. En su tronco tiene colgado un letrero “Estoy viejo pero sigo en pie”. Un hermoso mensaje para aquellos que se sienten cansados y creen rendirse. Es verdaderamente un mensaje inspirador para seguir adelante, ante las adversidades y no importa la edad que tengamos.
