Peeking through the guava tree. (Dark mode)
Let's see some more lights...
Beyond the bamboo trees...
and the banana trees...
That faint rainbow is kind of a bonus!
Breathtaking colors...
Early in January, we went chasing the sunset at a place called the Skyline View Deck somewhere in Ilocos Sur. We had no idea about the place's terrain especially after the town where we spent our pre-Christmas day but we decided to push through with the drive anyway. We were in for an adventure that's why.
As we are coming from the valley, we expected it would all be uphill but that wasn't the case. The road leading to the top of the mountain is like a roller coaster that the car would go up and down, then up, down again and the pattern repeats.
I somehow wished we counted how many they were but there had been many road signs and warnings to check the brakes which of course make us know that a long descent is coming.
This is the view of the place on the map.

The outlook was dismal when we arrived because the place was filled with fog and there wasn't any sign that we'd see the the golden hour.

But we didn't lose hope. After parking our vehicles, we decided to have some snacks first while we rest and let the engines cool down. Just when we were finishing our food, the sky started to clear a bit which made us very hopeful. And so we waited...

Our patience paid off because it didn't take long and we were presented with the wonderful colors of the sky. And these photos I'm sharing are just a few of those that we took that evening as the sun played hide and seek several times before it finally showed its colorful displays.

Our "Wow" moments were quite a lot and we all agreed that the long and winding journey was so worth it.
