I was on the phone with my brother early in the day which reminded me of the place we have been to before. We were supposed to revisit the area to install the necessary signages to the boundaries as required by the Engineers but because not all of us are free these days, we are forced to postpone the job until after the New Year.
Speaking of, the owner of the place had quite a homestead and is becoming sustainable if I may say so. She had just started gardening and planting some veggies (bitter gourd, sweet peas and coriander at the moment). With 4 fish ponds too (photos of which I've previously shared), fruit trees - mostly bananas which are generously fruiting.
She mentioned she used to have lots of chicken that lay eggs but she decided to trim down their numbers because of the costs involved so she's left with probably less than a hundred. There was another long coop in their porch which I forgot to take a photo of. They were filled with egg-laying chickens.
She's got 2 giant Brahmas on the chicken coop which are quite fascinating to watch with their feathered feet! Other breeds were left roaming freely on a large fenced area on their property. Did I say there were ducks too? Yep, pretty noisy when we were there. They quack so loud I thought there were turkeys or something, lol!
And dogs! Darn, she's got a lot of them! Two really huge German Shepherds which she had to put on the locked cage before we arrived and they were growling loud when they sensed our presence. I didn't have the guts to take a peek nor get photos of them when the other door to the house opened. I have quite a phobia with big dogs for I was bitten by one years ago.
If I'm not mistaken, there were 7 different breeds of dogs that are free in her household plus the two caged GS. And several puppies which are not yet waned by their mom. She did mention I can get one when we go back so yay!
Anyhow, the photos were captured during our visit to the place earlier this month. I was already imagining myself doing some little gardening too when the time comes and we get to put up our own home down there. Seeing her bitter melon reminded me that I'm yet to be successful in growing one. I tried quite a few times, including cucumber but none survived. Goes to show that there's much to learn :)
Happy Tuesday (Monday) everyone! Cheers!
