Ferocactus according to Google Lens. They are large barrel-shaped cacti with large spines and small flowers.
Google Lens says this is a type of Mammillaria Elongata, the gold lace or ladyfinger cactus that flowers.
A collage of Cleistocactus, Haageocereus
Mammillaria Polythele which is said to be native to Mexico.
Gymnocalycium from South America. Some refer to it as Moon Cactus.
Our neighbor down the property has a greenhouse full of cacti and succulents which according to the husband is not being kept well these days. She was one of those who got hit quite badly by the decline of the market for these plants and the owner kind of lost heart in the maintenance of her plants.
A few years ago, the demand for cacti and succulents was huge and those who were early in the trade made money. Then other people rushed into it and whilst others made it, some who came in later (like our neighbor) was a little too late. She kinda "caught the falling knife" as they put it in the trading market. I believe she went into it hoping that she will make money too but then the demand spiraled down and it became difficult for most, especially those like her who have no established clientele. So is a bit sad but I hope the market will boom again in the near future.
Anyway, the husband had a jamming session with the boys on their yard and the greenhouse was open so he was able to take photos of these I'm sharing today. Although I'm familiar with these plants, I'm not very particular on their individual names but got help from the Google Lens app. There are quite a lot of different varieties so I will be sharing the others next time to avoid photo-dumping :)
Well, it's Friday here in my side of town and we are having a very lovely weather. Hope it is the same where you are.
Thank you and cheers!
