An artwork by J. Carino
Ms. Sensuality?
Prepping "Pinikpikan"?
My granny pounding rice, maybe :)
The new week has arrived rather loud, at least up here in the mountains. It's gusty with scattered rain showers and geez, it's very really cold! Well, it's actually 16-17 degrees but it feels lower than that so it will just be an indoor-day for me, lazy one so to speak. The heater's got to be on most of the day and probably throughout the night.
But it's great to wake up to a new day and feel these things nonetheless. There's nothing better than that, yeah? I'm always thankful to each new leaf added to life :)
Anyhow, there were paintings seen through the walls of TCNH and I found them pretty interesting so I'm going to feature them today. The first painting (photo #1-3) was found displayed close to the sink by the washroom. It was signed by a "j.carino" whom I'm not sure if it was a local artist, Carino being a popular name locally. A bit of research led me to a J. Carino based in California whose paintings or artworks are more on men so I wonder if it is one and the same artist.
The next was of a man depicting someone who is getting ready to beat a chicken for Pinikpikan, a traditional dish or chicken stew which is quite famous locally. It was on a huge canvas (probably measuring 3 ft x 2 ft) on the wall of the shop adjoining the coffee house.
And the last one is of an old woman pounding rice maybe. I found it hanging on the wall above the condiments section in the restaurant. There were several paintings on that place which I have already shared sometime ago and these ones are the newest additions. There are a few more and I may write about them too next time :)
Happy new week everyone and may your holiday season be filled with joy, bliss and happy moments!
