If we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet.”
The conversation:
"Let's go for a ride tomorrow," he was saying over dinner. Her eyes lit up and it was as if her soul became alive.
"Sure! Where?" she asked eagerly.
"What would you say to Ilocos Sur?" he inquired back.
"That sounds fun so why not?"
Then they talked about what time they'd wake up and such...
They were supposed to be early but well, they overslept. But it's not a big deal, although excited, they are not rushing so they took their time before driving away. Traffic downtown was expected. Usually like that during the holidays and last minute shoppers are common. Cars honking here and there, traffic officers whistling too. Kinda delightful to watch.
They finally got out of the busy intersection in the town center around 10 am, found themselves speeding off towards their intended destination, stopping to buy some stuff then driving again. An hour or so and they can already see rice and corn fields.
It's an unwritten rule between them to stop at such a scenery and enjoy. Breathe in as much of the beauty of things around, take snapshots too. Perfect timing for the brakes to cool down.
Then they'd drive again and stop once more. They were having fun and they would switch seats from time to time. The world is indeed big and beautiful and they are going out of their way to explore at least some of it.
"Street arts ahead!" he warned as he slowed down. Quick with her phone she clicked! clicked! and clicked some more. She was absolutely wowed. The artworks may have been Chinese or Japanese inspired, kinda. Dragon, Pagoda...
And wait! Did you see that naughty pup? LOL!
She couldn't stop giggling by the sight of it. "The artist has a sense of humor," she commented. It was fun to see them all there, perhaps to provide some cheers to motorists and add more colors to the place.
She took some final shots then they kept on with the drive. The trip certainly added life to their days and they're both happy they went for it.
Hope you enjoyed the artworks as much as they did.
Thank you and cheers. And Happy Holidays once more!
