The afterglow is simply amazing...
The golden (magic) hour...
Yep...
I told ya :)
“A sunset is the sun’s fiery kiss to the night.”
While on a 4-hour drive to fetch his sister the night before mom-in-law's anniversary, the husband took some good shots of the sun from the time it was preparing to set to it sending a fiery kiss to the night or evening since it wasn't 5 pm yet.
The photos are arranged in reverse order based on their timestamps. The first one was taken 43 minutes after the last one. Obviously, they were captured at various places along the highway on the same day, at different times, but on the same hour (16:00 to 16:43).
As usual, I'm recording them here on the blockchain so I could delete them from my file storage. I reckon it would be cool to look back at them sometime in the future especially that they carry some significant memories and stories when they were photographed.
The post-sunset colors on the first and second photos are pretty lovely, aren't they? I think the afterglow is gorgeous.
Sunset (Sundown) Trivia:
Did you know that...
dust particles in the air have something to do with how the colors of the sunset will turn out?
ash from volcanic eruptions, trapped within the troposphere, tends to mute sunset and sunrise colors, while volcanic ejecta that is instead lofted into the stratosphere (as thin clouds of tiny sulfuric acid droplets), can yield beautiful post-sunset colors called afterglows and pre-sunrise glows. (Source)
the broad arch of whitish or pinkish sunlight in the twilight sky, consisting of the bright segment and the purple light is called "afterglow?" It is used in general for the golden-red glowing light from the sunset and sunrise reflected in the sky, and in particularly for its last stage, when the purple light is reflected. (Source)
the time of sunset is determined by the viewer's position on Earth, specified by latitude and longitude, altitude, and time zone so it varies throughout the year. (Source) That explains why the sun sets rather early on some months and later on others. And we thought there are days that seem to be longer and some shorter.
Well, it's good to learn some of these interesting things about sundown.
And just as the sun rises and sets each day, we too have ups and downs in our lives. The sister I've mentioned earlier is currently having some serious challenges in hers. It's rather saddening that whilst it is the festive season and supposed to be a time for families to get a lot closer more than ever, something troubling and very concerning about them surfaced. But we pray that they will be able to resolve things peacefully. Thus, we remain hopeful that understanding and love will overflow and things will turn out fine soon.
The sunset captures did remind me that things can change in a blink of an eye and nothing is permanent. I think it is vital for us to keep evolving just as time does.
It's a glorious hump day up here in the mountains and here's to wish you a fabulous and happy time wherever you are. Cheers!
