Hello and good day to you all!
I had been quite inactive since I wrapped up my 2022 travels in October but there has been a lot going on behind the scenes.
Since I returned from Tenerife in September, I've been developing my new freelance business and establishing myself in the market of (copy)writers and content creators.
One of my first (and probably the most favorite) clients is Father's coffee roastery located in Ostrava, Czech Republic. I've been a huge fan of coffee for years and some 4 years ago, I was introduced to the amazing world of specialty coffee. Then I worked as a barista and later a junior marketing specialist in a roastery (prior to leaving for Tenerife for 6 months) and now I'm back to writing about coffee!
So how does it work, you might ask? And what a copywriter does in a roastery?
My three main "writing points" are the website/e-shop texts, newsletters, and social media posts. So when a new coffee arrives, it comes with a "birth certificate" from the transporter - it says who grew the coffee and under what conditions, who processed it and how, and all other key information. Then it is my job to turn that into a few paragraphs interesting and readable for the customers. Then I take the key information for newsletters and social media posts.
The coffee background I already have is very helpful - I know what to ask and where to look for the necessary information. Plus points are the endless amounts of coffee I can drink when I visit the roastery and the amazing team price for the coffee I take home. Something I would totally call a dream job.
Do you have any questions regarding the work or operations in a small coffee roastery? Let me know in the comments!
