The visits I made a few weeks ago to the so-called Casa Bonita in the city of Barquisimeto, brought back countless memories of a wonderful time in my life.
Walking through its corridors made me remember when that place was the headquarters of the Friends of Barquisimeto Foundation. In those years, the predominant color there was blue. It is located in the central and historical center of the city. It is in front of the famous National Building, where the courts are located and which is also closely linked to my past since I worked there for many years.
The foundation that operated in that house was one of those that gave me support when I was looking for a new place to teach my theater workshops. For a year I was giving theater workshops by renting a space at the Bar Association, but when the agreement we had ran out, I was left without a venue and had to leave everything. That discouraged me a lot, but a few months later I started looking for a space. After refusals from several places, it was this foundation that accepted the agreement after making the request in writing.
The monthly payment was symbolic, it was not very high and I was available on Sundays to teach the weekly classes. The advertisements for the theater workshops had reach and there were quite a few students. The cost of the cales was not high either, and I didn't need the money, I had a job where I earned very well, so the theater workshops were only for passion. The benefit was the satisfaction, everything I earned was to invest in the workshop itself and many times I even had to invest my own money. Whoever is a theater artist knows very well that this happens a lot.
Today that Casa Bonita is just as its name says, very beautiful. The government entity in charge of this place has done a good job recovering these colonial style houses, which are part of the history of the city. They have restored and recovered them from the deterioration they were in in the past. I am glad.

Las visitas que realicé hace unas semanas a la llamada Casa Bonita en la ciudad de Barquisimeto, me trajeron innumerables recuerdos de una época maravillosa de mi vida.
Caminar por sus pasillos me hizo recordar cuando ese lugar era la sede de la Fundación Amigos de Barquisimeto. En aquellos años, el color predominante allí era el azul. Está ubicada en el casco central e histórico de la ciudad. Está frente al famoso Edificio Nacional, donde se encuentran los tribunales y que también está muy ligado a mi pasado ya que trabajé allí por muchos años.
La fundación que funcionaba en esa casa fue una de las que me brindó apoyo cuando buscaba un nuevo lugar para dictar mis talleres de teatro. Durante un año estuve impartiendo talleres de teatro alquilando un espacio en el Colegio de Abogados, pero cuando se acabó el convenio que teníamos, me quedé sin sede y tuve que dejarlo todo. Eso me desanimó mucho, pero unos meses después empecé a buscar un espacio. Tras las negativas de varios lugares, fue esta fundación la que acepto el acuerdo tras hacer la petición por escrito.
El pago mensual era simbólico, no era muy alto y estaba disponible los domingos para dar las clases semanales. Los anuncios de los talleres de teatro tenían alcance y había bastantes alumnos. El costo de las cales tampoco era alto, y yo no necesitaba el dinero, tenía un trabajo donde ganaba muy bien, así que los talleres de teatro eran sólo por pasión. El beneficio era la satisfacción, todo lo que ganaba era para invertirlo en el propio taller y muchas veces incluso tenía que invertir mi propio dinero. Quien es artista de teatro sabe muy bien que esto pasa mucho.
Hoy en día esa Casa Bonita es tal como su nombre lo dice, muy hermosa. La entidad gubernamental a cargo de este lugar ha hecho un buen trabajo recuperando estas casas de estilo colonial, que son parte de la historia de la ciudad. Las han restaurado y recuperado del deterioro en que se encontraban en el pasado. Me alegro.
Aquí les traigo algunas fotos de la Casa Bonita, que ahora alberga las oficinas de un organismo estatal y está decorada con pinturas y esculturas de artistas regionales, en su mayoría obras religiosas.
