One of the coolest things we encountered during our stay in the Cape Canaveral area was running into a slew of peacocks each evening on our way to dinner.
Some of them were majestic and what had us perplexed was why the heck were these beautiful creatures hanging around an old gas station and a residential RV spot.
I mean, there were tons of them.
The trip overall was great and the weather for the most part cooperated. It rained at times, but it did not ruin any of our plans.
It’s July and it’s Florida and we have lived out here long enough to be accustomed to the rainy intervals.
Sometimes it’s a welcomed break from the hot 90 plus degree weather.
Getting back to the peacocks, we hadn’t taken photos of any the first two evenings and wanted to make sure that we did get a few snapshots on our last evening and there they were - like clockwork.
Of course, we had to do a search about them; because it was impossible to believe there wasn’t a story behind it.
Found this person’s Tumblr post about them: https://thecapedcanaveral.tumblr.com/post/90662446335/the-50-year-origin-of-the-cape-canaveral-peacocks
The photo from my iPhone20 camera roll, I took of this incredible looking pea fowl on a fence in front of an RV home was an interesting one. Definitely, wanted it to be the one I used for this post.
