The first rounds of spring are reaching today in the Netherlands and it almost feels like a proper spring day again. Thinking back on when the last time was when the dog went swimming, it must have been months ago already. Because of the crazy rain from the last couple of months it was really not attractive at all to be outside. Even when walking the dog when the rain was pouring down, it seemed like we both didn’t want to be outside at all.
I don’t really believe in dog washing unless there is a reason for it. A while back I went to one of those ‘dog-washes’ which is basically a bathtub where you can wash your dog also with soap and stuff. I don’t think a lot of dogs really need that. But since mine was really shedding at that moment, it seemed like a good idea to wash out all of those hairs.
Since then doggo has been collecting only dust and old skin. And for that reason I do believe it is a good idea to dump you dog in the water every now and then. So the old dort can just wash away. Apart from that, doggo really loves swimming. So much that it is almost hard to get him out of there again. Again, not always attractive while standing in the rain to collect the dog again.
But now it was beautiful outside again and I was really looking forward to a walk around the lake. What I did find out is that the lake got a lot bigger all of a sudden since the rain is not really disappearing in the ground. It is just too saturated entirely and so the water stays on top. This meant that the walk was a bit different since a lot of the routes were still puddles or half rivers.
But coming towards the lake was awesome. Doggo went for a couple of swims again including shaking out every time, which means the old hair and dirt also gets shaken out. The funny thing with swimming and this one always is: it doesn’t matter how dirty the water is, the dog always ends up getting cleaner than before he went in. And you don’t need soap and everything to get that done. You just need a lake with rainwater and a moment of time to head out towards there.
So, thank you again nature for washing the doggo! The dust in the house appreciates it!
