The administrative capital of Palestine. The place where Yasser Arafat is buried. Half of the population are Christian Arabs, the other half are Muslim Arabs.
The first 15 minutes in Ramallah, I thought: what would it take to photograph? City as a city, no exotic. The same houses as on the other side of the checkpoints, the same falafel (only cheaper). Well, Arafat's grave, okay. Then I wandered into the food market and took a picture of at least something: round eggplants and cauliflower larger than my head. In Israel, the same ones are sold, it’s just that I haven’t wandered into the market there yet.
I did find one difference with Israel. Palestine has a Starbucks. So how is Starbucks? Green letters on the sign say Stars & Bucks or Square Bucks, and next to it is a logo that resembles the original.
