A few days ago, when I arrived home after a busy day at work, I found an unpleasant surprise: The neighbor paid to cut all the plants that were blooming in what I had called "our community garden".
Hace unos días al llegar a casa, tras un día ajetreado de trabajo, me encontré con una sorpresa poco agradable: La vecina pagó para que cortaran todas las plantitas que florecían en lo que yo había denominado "nuestro jardín comunitario".
The fact caused me indignation because I did not understand the reason for the decision. As you may know, plants, and in particular these ones, have a certain life span and when they reach their peak of adulthood they begin to lose their vigor and splendor, starting a new stage: the formation of seeds.
El hecho me causó indignación porque no entendí el por qué de la decisión. Como es de saber, las plantas, y en particular estas, tienen una vida determinada y cuando llegan a su punto álgido de adultez empiezan a perder su vigor y explendor, iniciando una nueva etapa: la formación de semillas.
However, once they became wilted, more than half a meter tall, and with yellowing leaves, together with my father-in-law we decided to pull them out to allow the small seedlings to grow in a suitable way and they could get the nutrients from the soil and receive the sunlight in the best way.
Sin embargo, una vez se tornaron marchitas, de más alrededor de medio metro de altas, y con hojas amarillentas, junto a mi suegro decidimos arrancarlas para permitir que las pequeños almácigos crecieran de manera idónea y pudieran obtener los nutrientes de la tierra y recibir la luz del sol de la mejor manera.
By this time, the seedlings were growing very vigorously and little by little they were greening up the space. Even some slightly larger ones growing at the end of the lot adjacent to the stairs leading to the other street were beginning their colorful bloom. It's a shame they made such a vile decision. In reality, these plants did not generate any discomfort, on the contrary, they adorned the place with their yellow, red, fuchsia flowers, among other beautiful shades.
Para el momento, las plantitas estaban creciendo muy vigorosas y poco a poco iban logrando el reverdecer del espacio. Incluso algunas un poco más grandes que crecían al final del terreno adyacente a las escaleras que comunican con la otra calle estaban iniciando su colorida floración. Es una lástima que hayan tomado tan vil decisión. En realidad, estas plantas no generaban malestar alguno, al contrario, adornaban el lugar con sus flores amarillas, rojas, fucsia, entre otras bellas tonalidades.
My wish is that the seeds that have been left in the ground germinate and that nothing and no one obstructs their growth and development to return to have a colorful garden that brightens up the spaces.
