Al inicio de la semana tenía el pensamiento errado de que realizar la labor de Servicio Comunitario sería un total fastidio, pero sólo han pasado dos días y ya comienzo a divertirme un montón y, lo más importante, mi admiración hacia los docentes y educadores se ha incrementado. Durante esta semana mis labores en el Servicio Comunitario no han tenido demasiado qué ver con mi carrera Universitaria, pero si han tenido que ver con algo que de igual forma me gusta: la creatividad.
He presenciado la creatividad infinita de un pequeño grupo de niños cuyos padres inscribieron en un Taller Creativo de Aves y en el Taller de Teatrino. En el primero, ellos están aprendiendo un poco sobre las Aves de Venezuela e incluso ayer realizamos un origami para colorearlo de acuerdo a los colores de algún ave en particular que ellos escogieran, por supuesto yo también hice el mío aunque no quedó demasiado bonito que digamos. Uno de estos niños tenía un pequeño libro de aves que su padre le había regalado, así que pasamos unos minutos viendo el libro mientras él me hablaba sobre algunas especies que había visto en vivo y directo, ¡él es todo un conocedor de aves!
Por otro lado, en el Taller de Teatrino, cada uno de ellos están construyendo su propio pequeño escenario para contar historias. Me encanta, porque aquí son libres de expresar su creatividad, no sólo al momento de utilizar las pinturas sino también al momento de crear sus propias historias. Uno de ellos dibujó un pequeño ejército de gatos, entre ellos estaban el Gato Rey, el Gato Unicornio y el Gato Shakira (ja, ja, ja) quienes debían defender el castillo del Gran Dragón, ¡cuánta imaginación! Ojalá al crecer no perdiéramos esa capacidad de crear, soñar e imaginar.
At the beginning of the week I had the mistaken thought that doing Community Service work would be a total bummer, but it's only been two days and I'm starting to have a lot of fun and, more importantly, my admiration for the teachers and educators has increased. During this week my work in Community Service has not had much to do with my University career, but it has had to do with something that I also like: creativity.
I have witnessed the endless creativity of a small group of children whose parents enrolled in a Creative Bird Workshop and a Theater Workshop. In the first one, they are learning a bit about the Birds of Venezuela and yesterday we even made an origami to color it according to the colors of a particular bird of their choice, of course I also made mine although it was not too pretty to say. One of these kids had a little bird book that his father had given him, so we spent a few minutes looking at the book while he told me about some of the species he had seen live, he is quite a bird connoisseur!
On the other hand, in the Theatrino Workshop, each one of them is building their own little stage to tell stories. I love it, because here they are free to express their creativity, not only when using the paints but also when creating their own stories. One of them drew a small army of cats, among them were King Cat, Unicorn Cat and Shakira Cat (ha, ha, ha, ha) who had to defend the castle from the Great Dragon, what an imagination! If only we didn't lose that ability to create, dream and imagine as we grew up.
