The rear end advertises the family business
The owner reveals what makes this thing useable daily - Some more modern Lexus V8 guts.
Interior is the absolute creme de la creme of late 1940s motoring luxury. The dashboard looks liek something from your Grans house, but in a very cool way ....
Glorious Japanese engine ensures this Olds' keeps on dropping pants and jaws and stopping traffic wherever she goes.
Is it a car, or something from a cartoon, or a glitch in the matrix? If this started tailgating me in Thailand, I'd be petrified and pull over.
Can't get over how huge and curvy the bodywork is, and the color is to original spec, just painted over many times in period and now sporting an incredible patina, reminding one of crocodile skin.
One mean looking coupe/sedan ... words are spoiling the visual impact of this beauty
Art on wheels - both the car, mainly the car, I mean, the whole thing is just a wonderful work of art ...

Thailand's Car Scene
Is ever growing, ever getting larger, and ever popular. There's always something going on and we try to get to as many shows as possible. These have been a little lacking due to the current Monsoon season (planners do have common sense), so more should resume soon. If the rain in South East Asia ever stops (it's pretty much a lot right now, check the news).
We digress, this is a 1948 Oldsmobile that turned up at a recent classic club gathering (we covered previously). This car has been playing on my mind however, and I wanted to give it a special highlight, on it's own. Free from the distractions of being thrown into a post with 50 other car photos.
Pictures tell stories, so this one is a @LikeTu post again. Appreciate the simplicity here of showcasing a selection of photos.
Truely Old School
If you study the rear airbrush artwork, you can make out the advertising for a family run car maintenance and customization business. Actually we overheard other club members discussing, that he has a few more of these old American classics. It's rare to feature something from so far back, yet in retrospect compared to what else was around in 1948, this barge must have seemed the absolute business. The owner is seen in the pictures, a guy with great experience and a laid back demeanor who was happy to show all inquisitive onlookers around the vehicle and explain how it was even possible it could be used everyday. Turns out it is, and has a few modern upgrades we'll get onto in a moment.
Almost Fictional Presence
The size of it is formidable, just like many things Americana, this thing is vast. Yet the proportions are cartoonish, it kinda looks like it eats kittens, could be a super-villain, a super-hero, a vigilante, or just a really cool outlaw. You find yourself caught between imagining how it would have been perceived in it's period reality, and lots of movie type scenarios with prohibition era mobsters running around in it.
Modern Guts
In proper Thai custom build fashion, Lexus LS400 drivetrain is hidden away along with some serious air suspension. The right wheels and tires finish the job, and the final stance adds to the fictional cartoon presence. Wish you could see it in the flesh, it's really quite a thing.
Enjoy the photos, more comments in the descriptions and thanks for reading!
- here to talk about hobbies, crafts, and cars. Especially cars. We're on a mission to seek out the craziest wildest and coolest rides wherever we may be at any given time. (Currently Thailand, for the foreseeable future!).
