Walkway to the bedrooms which I'd decorated with picture frames and books on the shelf at the end, should anyone need a read to get to sleep ...
Dining table which doubled as a social drinking hole a few times after hours!
This is standing from the living area looking through the entire breadth of the apartment to the kitchen out back. The room are to the right, out of shot. There was a lot of this old school 1980s condo carpentry going on. I liked it, in it's retro way ...
The kitchen was this crazy color, some high end stuff from way back, maybe? Certainly had a very retro vibe about it, now probably all the rage (if it hasn't been totally renovated, not unheard of around these parts)
The swimming pool was a little bit more of a cooling off spot than a proper place for a swim. However, the deep end was quite deep so you could have a good old plunge back and forth whilst doing your lengths
Views of the city skyline made this place all the more worth it
Balcony at sunset, now I believe there may be more constructions in this view ... this was around 2014! Sukhimvit Soi 8, Bangkok
Another looking across the living area and the bar area, it was an old school place built sometime in the 1980s. The interior was in very good order, retro orginal. I miss this unit although ironically , not this street or part of Bangkok
I painted this wooden wall yellow whilst staying here, it helped give a nice touch. In the end, I moved out as the craziness of finding reasonable housemates had become a burden, as had the cost!
Time Machine
The place will still be there, unknown on the state of renovations. A bargain at the time, having just come from Singapore. An entire 3 bed apartment with pool and right near the BTS Skytrain in downtown Bangkok. All for a little under $1000 usd per month. Plus utilities, cleaning, and other little things which come with running a place like this. All in all, it worked for 50% of the time when I could find long staying roomies for the 2 other rooms. I made these as nice as possible, and aimed to cover just over half the rent and bills in return. Some tenants however, were a little bit wild. Too much late night party craziness meant often the place could become an ad-hoc after hours nightspot. There was a bar and my hifi and plenty of comfy seats!
Crazy times, circa 2013. I still have most of my items in this apartment, and the stacks of DVD and CD now in boxes etc.
Never again!
it was a cool place, yet only worked some of the time. To have it again would be as an owner only. To rent people rooms again, would be for them to have separated, personal living spaces and my own private living place! Much was learnt in such a short period of time, and many good times were had all the same in this quirky and cheap condo at Heritage Condos, Sukhumvit Soi 8 Bangkok.
