El maltrato animal debe ser considerado un delito grave en Venezuela
El sábado 19 de agosto, me presenté en la recolección de firmas para exigir que el maltrato animal sea considerado un delito grave en Venezuela. Estoy consternado por la gran cantidad de animales que son cruelmente maltratados y asesinados en nuestro país, y no me parece justo que sus victimarios solo reciban una sentencia de 48 horas de prisión.
Me sorprendió que la carpa estuviera vacía ese día. Puedo entender que algunas personas no sean aficionadas a las mascotas, pero firmar una petición para protegerlas no les cuesta nada. Todos debemos dejar de ser indiferentes y colaborar para hacer de Venezuela un país más seguro para los animales.
El maltrato animal es un problema grave en Venezuela. Según la ONG AnimaNaturalis, en 2022 se registraron más de 100.000 casos de maltrato animal en el país. Estos casos incluyen negligencia, abandono, abuso físico y psicológico, y eutanasia sin justificación.
El maltrato animal es un delito que debe ser castigado. Los animales son seres vivos que merecen ser tratados con respeto y dignidad. No debemos permitir que sean maltratados o asesinados.

Animal abuse should be considered a serious crime in Venezuela
On Saturday, August 19, I attended a petition drive to demand that animal abuse be considered a serious crime in Venezuela. I am appalled by the large number of animals that are cruelly mistreated and killed in our country, and I do not think it is fair that their perpetrators only receive a 48-hour prison sentence.
I was surprised that the tent was empty that day. I can understand that some people are not fond of pets, but signing a petition to protect them does not cost them anything. We should all stop being indifferent and collaborate to make Venezuela a safer country for animals.
Animal abuse is a serious problem in Venezuela. According to the NGO AnimaNaturalis, in 2022 more than 100,000 cases of animal abuse were registered in the country. These cases include neglect, abandonment, physical and psychological abuse, and euthanasia without justification.
Animal abuse is a crime that should be punished. Animals are living beings that deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. We should not allow them to be mistreated or killed.
