It has been a fulfilling and exciting weekend so far! Hope you're having a blast this weekend, too. 😊
Here's a little throwback to our weekend freediving tour at Moalboal, Cebu. It's not our first time diving with Nicco and his team. Back in January, Nicco organized a tour at Pescador Island and other freediving sites in Moalboal. When I heard of it, I immediately thought of going since it's been a while since my last freedive. I had an ear infection in July last year and for a while I was afraid of freediving again, scared I might hurt my ear again. But it's been six months; it's about time to get back on track. I invited my boyfriend to join and he gladly accepted the invitation. Nicco named the tour as "Happy Boat". We were told to be at Nicco's Place (Moalboal) by 8 in the morning. From my hometown, Moalboal is roughly 1.5hr away. There's no traffic in this part of Cebu but who knows what you'll encounter along the way that will cause delay. Lo and behold, another motorist detected our flat tire and we had to make a quick stop at the vulcanizing shop. Sadly, although there's a nearby shop, the flat tire couldn't be repaired. We had to buy sealant in the town center and the nearest one is a few kilometers away. We decided to leave the motorcycle in the shop, take a bus to Moalboal and worry about how we'd go home after the freedive session. If didn't do this, we'd miss the tour.
Our day started a bit off but we made it on time. It was crucial to follow instructions about call time since our freedive experience was greatly dependent on the sea condition and the changing of tides. It was sunny that morning that I got a bad back burn after it! A proof that I did enjoy freediving in Pescador Island. I visited the site a few years back when I still couldn't swim. I vividly remember it's colorful and lively corals but to during our visit there were fewer corals and it's evident that Pescador was badly hit by Super typhoon Odette. I hope it will recover in the years to come!
Aside from Pescador of course we checked out the sardine run and the statue of a mermaid. We had so much fun that day. But if there's one thing that made my day it was the recovery lunch that Nicco prepared for us! It was everything any exhausted freediver could ask for! 😋
Although, we arrived home safely, the flat tire wasn't completely fixed and it turned out it's not fixable. We had to make at least 4 stops in various vulcanizing shops on our way back to my house. I know it's frustrating but I'm just glad we made it home before sundown. ❤️
