Yeah this isn't talked about enough. You see Republicans often accuse undocumented immigrants of being a drain on the American government, but they often are paying taxes that they won't see a benefit from.

According to ITEP, undocumented immigrants paid an estimated $25.7 billion in Social Security taxes in 2022, despite not being able to collect.

In total, ITEP estimates they paid $96.7 billion in taxes at the federal, state, and local level.

Social Security is a PAYGO system- current workers support current retirees. Immigration will be vital to keeping Social Security solvent in the future as Americans age. This includes undocumented immigrants.
