A little more than 500 years ago, the famous Christopher Columbus stopped his ships on this coast to go ashore and stock up on water and any food he could find in this still virgin land. Today this place is known as: Playa Punta de Piedra, the closest beach to the mouth of the Las Casas River that crosses the city of Nueva Gerona, capital of the Isle of Youth.
Four days ago I arrived to this little island located in the Caribbean Sea and belonging to the Cuban archipelago. I was born here and this beach has always been a special place to share with family and friends. This time I came with a friend to enjoy nature and look for sea water for our consumption. We found only three people there, absolute tranquility reigned. We could hear the singing of the wind and the murmur of the waves. .... How fortunate we are when we can enjoy the magic of nature!!!!
