It was a night full of fun and excitement as the Bukidnon’s pride, ‘Jayson in Town’, had their first jamming session at Agusan Canyon, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, Philippines, in commemoration of the festive celebration led by Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Agusan Canyon.
This special event is impossible without the continuous support of the Local Government Unit of the municipality.
Perhaps it was jamming for a cause featuring one of the most renowned Reggae bands with the special participation of local bands such as the Hazukashii, Summersky, and Diesel Society.
Tickets were available for two dollars or one hundred pesos. A lot have already reserved their tickets just before the event. So, we thought that we could not get into the venue anymore. All of us thought that the tickets at the booth were not available. But we were wrong, for we could still enter the place.
We arrived at the venue around 8 p.m., and I witnessed a massive crowd still buying tickets. It was hard to buy tickets because the line to the booth was long. We waited for a while; good thing we had a friend who offered to buy a ticket for us, so we skipped the queue.
Outside the venue, many barangay police officers and soldiers were scattered all around the corner to get ready for any trouble that may come in a blink.
Suddenly, there was a drunk man who had caused trouble just before the band had performed because there was a blackout for a moment. Out of his mind, he complained and even spoke bad words that made the barangay police officers and soldiers call his attention, making him vanish on the reggae night.
It was not only a night of enjoyment but also camaraderie and celebration as I met old friends and new ones. I have also seen my former and current students watching the live performance, and they jammed together with the ‘Jayson in Town’ band. It has been a while since I have not witnessed a live band performance. I was so excited and thrilled to see and witness jamming with everyone.
Before the most awaited band presented to the crowd, the frontal bands performed first. Although they had their excellent performance, still the people were thrilled to see a glimpse of the ‘Jayson in Town.’
Meanwhile, at around 10 p.m., the most awaited band came with a beautiful reggae beat as they fixed their musical instruments with a loud noise from the crowd, who were excited to hear and see them perform live on stage, and it ended at 1 a.m.
The band came from Kitaotao, Bukidnon. So they traveled for more or less five hours to reach the municipality of Manolo Fortich. But they are already known for performing in all parts of the Philippines. They played their original pieces of music, and famous artists revived some songs.
Indeed it was a bright night full of enjoyment, a night full of live reggae music, an evening of camaraderie, and festive celebration, and it was a memorable day for all Manoleños, the awesome people of Manolo Fortich.
