Halloween for most people is a fun and a happy experience where family members gather together to pay respect to their dead loved ones and bond with their living relatives. I guess this is what the Filipino culture is like. I have no experience with other cultures and so I view it as a normal yearly occurrence but to me in runs a little bit deeper.
I wish I had a photo of their graves before I got it painted to show the before and after but oh well. Their graves was so dirty because of the smoke from the candles that my relatives have put in front of their graves and so I had it painted because I promised both my grand parents that I would do so this all souls day. It may not be the best grave around but I sure do love the look on it.
And oh please don't mind the bones on the first picture coz that's what graveyards look like in the public cemetery in the Philippines. Now I'm not saying all cemeteries are like this one but as far as I know from where I'm from this is kinda normal although it looks dirty but there's nothing I can do. They just put and display the bones there like it's an open market lol
Also I had offered my grandfather some coke and a cigarette since he can't live without them. I do that every time I visit his grave to pay respect to him. For my grandma I didn't offer anything except for the flowers and candles because she was such a down to earth kind of person. She was never materialistic at all unlike my grandfather, but even so both of them loved each other so much.
They were my parents and grand parents at the same time, they taught me everything and who I am today. Anyways till next time guys see yah :)
