Ayer fui con mi esposa y mis hijos al colegio donde estudian por qué tenían una actividad llamada "Día del abrazo en familia" que es una actividad que hacen todos los años, aunque tenían unos años que no lo hacían por la pandemia.
Cómo terminó a las 8 de la mañana y los niños salían a las 9:30 y para no gastar gasolina en ir a la casa y a los 40 minutos venir a buscarlos, decidimos ir a la plaza Bolívar de la Asunción a esperar a que salieran de clases.
Cuando llegamos a la plaza nos encontramos que habían varios artesanos instalando sus mesas, manteles con los colores de la bandera y colocando sus artesanías.
Entre las artesanías que se encontraban estaban las tradicionales muñecas tejidas, trabajos en madera, zarcillos y collares, sombreros, cuadros, pinturas dibujadas sobre madera, platos de arcilla y algo muy particular, como eran paquetes de nuestros billetes devaluados durante estos últimos años y monedas como souvenirs.
Nos estábamos preguntando el motivo de la exposición, ya que no recordábamos que hubiese alguna actividad especial, pero al poco tiempo vimos llegar un autobús y una camioneta con varios turistas europeos a los que le estaban haciendo un recorrido. Habían aproximadamente 30 de ellos.
Los llevaron hasta el busto del Libertador, dónde la guía se encargaba de contarles la historia de sus hazañas y luego los dirigen hasta los artesanos para que compren unos souvenirs y les dan unos minutos para que hagan un recorrido por la plaza y los sitios turísticos cercanos cómo el Museo Nueva Cádiz, la Catedral de la Asunción entre otros.
Es bueno ver qué después de muchos años regresan los turistas a Margarita, no como en años anteriores en dónde nos visitaban turistas de Brasil, colombianos, europeos, y varios cruceros que hacían escala en casi todo el año en nuestra isla, pero pareciera que poco a poco esto va mejorando, lo que es muy bueno para el turismo y la economía de la isla.
